I believe we're going to do an Atletico Madrid 2014. Win an epic league title and then fall short in the CL final.

I'll take that I suppose as long as we put in a respectable performance in the final. Don't think it's very likely, but if it's a similar result to last year's final it'll take a bit of the lustre off the PL win.

Underdogs winning a CL final seems quite rare. Last 26 years I can only think of Liverpool and Chelsea (twice).

I won't recover from a last minute equalizer by PSG in the CL final for us to then lose in the extra time even if we won the league. I think I will give up watching football altogether.

I still haven't watched highlights of 2006 even once in 20 years.

The West Ham game was hard enough. I definitely cannot relive a 2006 Champions League final. That one game really sent us down the wrong path for 15 years. F me!

daredevil that was because PSG were knackered as that game was played mid-summer. Also it was only CWC, didn’t think PSG were that bothered tbh.

I guess i will be going into the CL final game with the expectation that we will not win it. Maybe thats all the years of getting nowhere with the team, and not winning anything significant for so long (FA Cups aside). The 2006 CL final, while it was one we were not expected to win, did really put us off, especially when we were leading for a lot of time, only to have it snatched away.

I was way more confident in 2006 - we had Thierry Henry who was for me the best player in the world and better than Ronaldinho.

Sadly, we missed so fucking chances to win it.

I wasn't that confident. I thought it was an improbable run, with or without Henry (look at our back line back then. Ughhhh). And of course, once Jens was sent off, that killed most hope i had, even with us going ahead before the break.

USArsenal yeah, we weren't good that season. CL was some bizarre reprieve where we were keeping clean sheets with Eboue, Senderos and Flamini in our back four. I remember feeling proud at he shift we put in both across the tournament and in the final itself given the circumstances. No shame losing to that Barca side, particularly with the squad as it was then and being down to ten men.

There was something about that guy’s aura that just screamed loser. You knew that as long as he was our goalkeeper we wouldn’t win anything, even if we had had Benzema up front and Iniesta behind him.

Gurgen his penalty saves v Shef Utd quarter final in the 2005 fa cup helped us win that trophy though so deserves some respect for that. CL final he was a joke though.

Wenger was weird sometimes. Canned Szczesny for punching a few darts (he did the same as a younger man) but somehow thought Almunia was good enough for as long as he did, including after that Champions League final.
