So, alternative is very easy to point out. Just watch what City have been doing. Play your natural game with an aim to score, do not keep the ball at gk's feet for half a minute number of times.

Don Pacifico They set up to play out the back and then didn't have the conviction to execute it so ended up launching it. Just set up to launch it in first place and go for the flick ons.

Don Pacifico We can't have our backup keeper and center backs having the most touches on the ball. If City are going to send a line of four to stop us passing out from the back, get the ball up the field, and have your mot technical/dynamic players on the ball more. Our midfield and attacking players don't have enough touches today.

The only alternative (which we've tried and failed at today) was hitting long balls. It doesn't suit the players we have available.

Honestly, I get why people are frustrated with the way we've played today but the issue is the execution rather than the intent.
