Same - can't see the players getting up for it again. The problem isn't the trophies that should follow any triumph this season, it's what should have preceded it. We have been super consistent for 5 years and every team has its cycles.

Pepe LeFrits I think the cost of these last few seasons will come out the demands are so high unless we freshen the squad up I can see plenty of injuries.

I think Wenger's type of football was much more tolerant of having a few components not functioning well. Feel like our game will apart if Rice, Saliba etc aren't totally on it

I dont know, i think it will be a shit show for a lot of teams, not just us. Playing so many game, only to have no real break due to the WC will make especially the beginning of next season pretty sketchy. Lots of injured or completely drained players will be starting the season.

Pepe LeFrits the thing is who wont be in a worse shit show next year? City with a Pep hangover, Liverpool sticking with Slot and a rapidly declining Virgil. Chelsea still a massive mess. United think they're back but we'll see when they have 2 games a week next year. We'll be the best positioned club going into next season if we can win this season. If we don't I can see us falling apart psychologically.

Qwiss Arteta will have to rotate much more. After winning, dunno if all the players will be able or willing to push themselves so much. With so little rest, if he insists on playing the same thing all the time regardless of the competition, opposition, etc., we will end with even more injuries.

Pepe LeFrits Reckon if Guardiola leaves and Liverpool stick with Slot it could just as well be ours for the taking. Morale will depend on who gets cleared out and who comes in, and beyond that on blind luck through to Christmas. But I feel pretty sure if Arteta wins this season he's only going to want more.

United could be a threat as well. Hopefully, Fernandes fucks off but much like PSG, United's recruitment has changed from buying the most high profile players to buying actual talent and they will be good for it.

No chance. They need a whole new back four and a replacement for Casemiro. At least four transfer windows required for that. Their defence is genuinely lower table quality.

I can also see Mainoo and Mbuemo not being able to cut it having to play two games a week.

FEBravo we have the summer to move the injury prone and strengthen again. I think the other challengers will have the same issues anyway.

We'll be fine next year. We might start slow but I expect Arteta to double down and upgrade a few team members.

He'll learn to rotate more too because it clearly helped

that same sense of relief might be present in the champions league final as well.

I agree with this. I think this season would have been wrapped up weeks ago if not for those first timer nerves.

On the flip side, onlookers are underestimating the sense of an era ending if we win the league and Guardiola does leave City, and the psychological impact of that on City's current squad, particularly its decorated veterans.

There's no way a player such as Rodri, who whines about fixture congestion in every interview, is going to bust his hamstrings for Pep's successor. Man's got nothing left to play for and barely even wants to play.

We've seen a slump happen at every big club that's seen this kind of managerial longevity and success. Slot's first-season success was an anomaly brought about by the top form of his predecessor's biggest stars and the long-term frustration of Klopp's tenure.

Yeah, and the weight of coming second 3 years in a row. That adds to the nerves. Its just been good for us that City have stumbled as much as they have. If Palace somehow manage to get a point from City today (which i highly doubt they will), it will ease our nerves even more, and we will most likely play champagne football v. Burnley on Monday, knowing it would be the clincher at home. But i doubt it, I think we'll have to get it done away v. a second string Palace side.

I think all of the big teams are going to struggle next year with injuries and fitness, even more than the last couple of years. These teams are going to have a lot of players that haven't had a full summer's break in years - that's just not sustainable. My hope is that we can really rotate our players like Rice and Saka at the beginning of the year and give more opportunities to players like Dowman, who will need minutes to continue to progress. I have a hard time believing any of our top rivals will be able to insulate themselves from the impact of the WC but expect it to be a logjam at the top of the table for at least the initial 5-10 game weeks.
