SimplyThePest we're not playing either of them. But if City beat Madrid then they have a (likely) Bayern Munich distraction in the midweek before they play us in the league.

Well.... They beat Inter twice.. Atletico Madrid, Man City (at City, and they kicked the shit out of them), drew away to Dortmund... Leaving aside the less great results earlier in the CL, their recent European form has been outstanding with some big scalps.

Sporting is a good team, they are in great league form, but their wins in the CL (PSG aside) were against Athletic, Brugge, Marseille, Kairat... Those are 'lesser' scalps.

Either of these teams are decidedly beatable (assuming we get past Leverkusen, also not a total given)

But its set up nicely for us.

I would assume that is because mid week CL ties could have an impact on how they fare in the League.

Qwiss because then they'd be likely to have to play Bayern Munich the week they play us in the league. If they lose, then they don't have that distraction.

Real don't have a midfield like that. Only PSG and Barcelona do.

RocktheCasbah fair enough. I'll probably still just be rooting for them to get knocked out so if we did get to the final they wont be waiting. As it is we could still play them in every final this season.

Qwiss don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be sad to see them go out. I just feel we'll have a better chance of a result in the league, if they're being subjected to the same distraction as us.... Obviously I'm assuming we'll take care of Leverkusen appropriately.

Just realized, City got a little fucked by this. So now for them it goes Leeds away, Forest at home, Newcastle away in the Cup, Real Madrid away, West Ham away, Real at home and then the final against us.

We really need to get past Chelsea and Brighton with 6 points and things will look good.
