Qwiss see I disagree in a game against weaker opposition if we have a 2 goal lead they are going to have to open up massively to salvage the game and a club like arsenal should be able to attack intelligently and pick them off on a counter. The problem is we don't do counter attacks we become sit back let them have the ball hoofing it and that to me isn't smart and it's a result of the way Arteta gets the team to approach games. It's we'll let the opposition attack us and we'll hold out because the belief that the defence will always hold.

awooga83 I just don't think this team under Arteta is currently able to open up like that without making mistakes at the back. Control is what brought us to the top and losing it is whats put us at risk.

Qwiss I think it's fair that Arteta team can't probably do that. But I think the "control" we've always seen under Arteta is pretty empty we have the ball but we don't create many chances and usually the opposition is letting us play that way because we aren't so effective. When the dynamic changes and they try and attack us we never look in at much control in my view. And they're is a massive mental burden trying to maintain that playing style requiring everyone to be fully on it for the full 90.

Sicario2 how was Madueke against United, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Liverpool? Over the 2 cup legs Zubi was excellent. Brilliant against Villa too. Madueke was so bad against City he was subbed at half time.

He did ok against Chelsea away in the Carabo Cup but not sure if you can really call that a ‘big game’ and he did well v Villa at home which was to be fair a big game (just not against the big 6)

Okay, he made mistakes in these games, but that isn't the same as being shit. And as for the "mistake" against Spurs, it's pretty unusual to be punished for taking too long on the ball in central midfield in such a swift and emphatic fashion.

So I'm not denying those goals were his fault (although Saliba's pass v United didn't help), I just don't think that means he was shit. Was he brilliant when he scored against Aston Villa for example?

I might be stating the obvious here but we have genuine problems if we don't come out guns blazing and destroy them. The scum are almost as bad as wolves but will come out with a point to prove.

That's exactly why we have to take over early and show who we really are. We have to beat them on pure passion and vengeance, so many people mocking them.

RocktheCasbah I just think he generally adds to our nerves when passing sideways most times in these big games, he’s not brave enough to move the ball forward. He’s a good signing but he’s more Elneny 2.0 than being a better replacement than Partey. Partey 2022-2023 was much better than Zubi.

Took Partey a while to adjust to being here though, didn't it? This is Zubi's first season and I think it's fair to say he's been a net positive overall. Pining for the player Partey was 4 years ago helps nobody.

Sicario2 I mean this stuff is total bullshit to me I can remember numerous team crisis meetings under Wenger. You only have to look back 3 or so matches for Arteta's pitch how we were going to be courageous and embrace the opportunity we had and it was empty words. They are pretty meaningless I'd rather less of these public pronouncements about what we are going to do and actually show in actions what we are about. The words don't really inspire me from the team at the moment.

Qwiss I think we absolutely need to attack more and attack better, but at the same time I think that’s ridiculous just now at a point when our core strength is failing us. No point asking the team to do something different at a time when we can’t do what we’re best at.
