He only signed for them in Jan 25.. Under contract until 29.... We would have to move heaven and earth to get him right now, especially on the back of the season he's been having. Would absolutely love it if we did it, but i don't see us anywhere close to this.

USArsenal yeah I don't know if he'd move yet and he'll be a record breaking sort of fee but I could see him in the PL or at Real in the next few years.

daredevil the idea of rebuild on a young side that is top of the league with 3 games to go and in the CL final seems a bit over dramatic to me too. If we didn't have such big injury issues we'd have won the league at a canter. That's what I'd be looking at first and foremost. I think need to consider how many players who've missed significant time in the last 18 month we can carry and which ones are at a level that its actually worth it. Are people really confident going into next season with most of Ode, Havertz, White, Timber, Cala, Merino, Jesus, etc To me that's a lot of overlapping players with injury concerns. And you can be sure there will be new unforeseen issues next season. I think half those guys need to go.

I don't think a complete rebuild is a good idea - see Liverpool.

It feels wild to say this but it shouldn't be - our attack has contributed to our success. Yes, it lacks individual flair, but it more than makes up for it with with workrate and duelling. That is a shocking thing to say about a forward line but that's the way football is now.

If we can find players who can add those qualities you stated while also being OOP players than fine, that would be awesome. The risk is the tradeoff where players often offer one or the other like we've seen from Ekitike, Isak, Wirtz and co. Ideal front line would no doubt be players like prime Salah, Mane, Kvara etc who are monsters off the ball as well.

Regardless, I'm not for too many changes at once. One big attacking signing for the left would be enough. Even if the signing is not great OOP like for example a Vini or Leao, we more than make up for it elsewhere.

Let's be honest, without wanting to be critical this week of all weeks, we should have won the league at more of a canter with the team we had left after injuries took their toll. There was, and is, more to come from the squad than we've seen this season. We've an abundance of talented players, I think Arteta just needs to freshen up his squad and more importantly his tactics and thinking around how defensive and secure he wants us to be. Turning three or four of the high-earning, low-minute players into one or two top quality, robust signings would be great for the squad and the quality available.

We're not an old side but quite a few of our players are entering their prime - we're the 11th youngest club in the PL this season (City are younger). And I think the need for renewal probably hinges on how this season ends up.

Tchouameni and Alvarez are both very good players but probably not what we need.

Don Pacifico we'll always need a few signings but talk of a rebuild is too extreme. As I said replace a few of the more injury prone players and one of Trossard or Martinelli (not both) and we'll be looking good to go again. I still think the biggest issue getting over the line and winning something. If we do that I think we'll go forward with new found freedom and confidence.

I've been outspoken on my hesitation with Barcola but if he's available this summer, I'd be willing to roll the dice especially if we were to move Martinelli on. I think that there are big risks with him moving to the EPL's intensity from PSG due to the demands on his body and I'm not convinced he's a top finisher but there's no denying his athleticism and ability to take on players 1v1. We don't have the explosiveness that he would provide and he could certainly jump a level with more opportunity. It would really depend on the fee for me - anything between 50m-80m is tolerable but more than that and I'd start feeling very uncomfortable.

Everyone knows I'm in on Alvarez.

I would not take Livramento only due to his injuries - Arteta already breaks our fullbacks with the demands he puts on him and bringing in an injury prone player is just asking for trouble.

We do not need another DM in my opinion. We are more than covered with Rice, Zubi, Norgaard and MLS. We need another technical midfielder far more than we need a 6.

So yes to Barcola and Alvarez but no to Livramento and Tchouameni. Barcola, Alvarez and Guler would be close to my ideal attacking refresh, with Martinelli, Trossard and Jesus leaving.

Barcola doesn't really excite me.

I like his springiness and desire to create shots, but I don't see the ferocity that I want out of an impact sub. I'm dreaming of the days when @Klaus and I were wish-listing Alexis Sanchez (while on Udinese). That's the type of player I want, someone who could be dropped into any position across our front three, and will us - and Arteta - into an attacking frenzy. At times I thought Martinelli could be that player, but his technical ability has caught up to him, and I also think he's been neutured by Arteta.

Kvaratskhelia has that intensity, but he's such a pipe dream at this point.

I do think we could use a little South American intensity, but as far as I can tell there's a lull in talent right now from Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, etc. Ecuador seems to be producing the best talent right now but more so for defenders.

Excited to see if anyone can break out at this world cup.
