I think this is far more realistic than most here. Madrid have been humbled the last two years in both the league and Champions league and clearly they know they have to change something. Anyone who has watched them over that period can see that Vini and Mbappe are not great fits next to each other. If Vini had more years left on his contract I think they’d just grit their teeth and try to figure out a way to make it work but with him having a year left and not making much progress on a renewal, the time is now to get what they can for him while also helping their own team dynamics and building around Mbappe and Jude.
While we’d have to seriously adjust our wage plan, selling Trossard, Jesus and other deadwood would clear up more than enough wages to accommodate a 400k per week player. I also think the concerns about his character are off base and rooted in race-baiting media pieces from Spain. He’s got an ego but every star does. Personally I think bringing in a huge name like him can be received well by a locker room as it’s a sign of the club truly leveling up in status. If we can convince him and Madrid, it’s a no brainer to me. I don’t think he will be an instant success but I think he will completely tilt our attacking dynamics and that will open up opportunities for everyone in the attack. Really hope we can get this over the line.
