also the kroenkes didn't lose their appetite with the nuggets, they just made bad bets on their existing players. once you commit, if those players don't deliver you're fucked. in football mistakes can be tossed aside and you buy new ones. in the nba you have to find trading partners that make it work financially and maybe a change of scenery works. everything came together for them in spring '23 and their key players (jokic, murray, gordon and porter jr) played the entire postseason. their health hasn't been the same since. it's just the nature of the league, you commit financially to your stars and hope for the best.
look at a team like OKC. they seem to be doing everything right, but bad luck with an injury to one of their max players and now you're starting to wonder if the others you committed big money to are who you thought they were (someone like a chet).
