Claudius it’s not a negative you know. Those are my exact sentiments as well. It implies we will not be as open and easy to counter on as City was, and will constrict united to death, while sniffing out their pathetic attempts to counter. Don’t feel the need to defend Arteta all the time. Even those of us who don’t like our football aren’t blind to its effectiveness, and are hungry to win the league.

-- it’s not a desire to defend Arteta. I was listening to Arsenal Vision and Clive was going on about how we’ve chosen to be open and fun against Inter. And I thought what a complete misreading. Every time someone has attacked us this season, they’ve gotten their asses handed to them. We have fast centre backs and midfielders, so can defend well in transition. And can then cut open teams that leave wide open spaces. Just watch our games agiant Chelsea, Villa, Inter, Bournemouth etc recently.

Opposition managers aren’t dumb. We are definitely not the team to try to play open against because we can out pass any team in England.

This has been something i noticed in the games he's played.. He seems like he's running in mud. And if he's going up against Mbuemo, he could get done in quite a lot and get early booking and then get toasted.

United know they are the best countering team in England, so will likely absorb pressure and spring fast breaks.

yes... but that's the point of control-ball. To be ready for the fast breaks, ideally cutting it out at source.

banduan I think our type of football leaves us really vulnerable to counters. Inter had a lot of great counters. And United often does too. We try to prevent opposition chances by holding the ball long and pressing first 5 seconds after a turnover. But once teams can get past that first press, a serious attack can take advantage.

The one positive here is there fullbacks are horrible. So Saka and Trossard will be key.

I think Gyo coming off the bench could be a hack. It will take away the pressure and with his physicality can get advantages v tired defenders as we saw in the San Siro.

Jesus is an enigma and could work for the first hour. His close ball control and trickery could be a nightmare for Maguire.
