Claudius 2nd best attack in England that is 0.5% below the league's best attack in terms of output. The attack has clear problems but it is hard to engage when people say things like "our attack is so shit..."
What it steadily points to is the strong chance one or two perfect forward signings put us over the top. More to that the only definition of perfection we really care about is whatever puts us over the top.
Margins are fine here: it seems with hindsight Semenyo in place of Madueke would have been decisive.
One question we have in summer either way is how we can convert more transfer hindsight into transfer foresight.
On this aspect my money's on giving Berta more influence rather than less. I believe some aspect of the "Chelsea bins" phenomenon, which I come not to condemn but to constructively criticise for its modest inefficiencies, is squad- and London- and England-driven. Berta's our man on the outside and we need his perspective. Even more so if Arteta continues, win or lose the league.
