I can't see the second goal but in Gyokeres's defence, how many times have we seen a left footed cross for Gyokeres to attack like Sesko's first? Almost never.
No one wants to say it but Berta fucked up because he brought in a striker without giving much thought to our attack. Nobody plays inverted wingers with a true 9, everyone plays a false 9 with inverted wingers so they can attack the space and cut inside.
If you play with a true 9, teams have at least one or both wingers on their stronger side so they can get to the byline and cut back or out swing a cross, so the 9 can attack the box. I think that was the original idea with Madueke on the left but he looked completely out of his depth on that side.
The current balance isn't complementary at all. We don't cross the ball enough from the byline, we tend to cross inverted from deep which requires a far more difficult technique to score from.
