Said this before, but VG14s success or failure here will depend greatly on how Arteta deploys him. I think he (Vic) is mature and experienced enough to have voiced his preferences during talks with our team, and Arteta / Berta must have allayed his fears somehow (he says he liked what he heard from them). But his hold up play needs work, and his reluctance or inability to use his head counts against him when comparing to the "archetype" CF. He will have to adapt quite a bit to our game and calibrate against the speed and physicality of the league.
But the biggest adjustment will have to come from Arteta. We essentially sold Auba because he could not or would not adapt to the classic CF role and up his back to goal/hold up game to suit Arteta's vision. And while Gyokeres isn't exactly the same mold as Auba, they're both dependent on early release of balls into channels. I am not sure if Arteta can make us flexible enough that the players can adjust as needed within and between games. It's a huge concern for me.
