Haven't watched the replay to see the exact position of the defence, but my feeling is that what he does creates the space at the top of the square that Eze runs into to work the keeper, then Rice runs into to finish the loose ball.
Gyökeres does have to continue to establish that threat and ideally will do so by scoring, but an overall multiplier of the attack is there—particularly when we have the creators like Ødegaard, Eze or for that goal, Zubimendi on hand to loosen things up with an incisive ball to a deeper runner.
