I don't know, I feel like 14 is a special number at the club that should be earned by performances for the club rather than someone new coming in and taking it. Feels a bit different since it's a non-standard number (ie, not 1-11) and some of those are available. It didn't feel right when Nketiah had it either. Walcott and Aubameyang you can argue did their time earning it before they got it. I suppose you could say 10 should be earned too but it feels easier to justify a 1-11 number.
But maybe I'm just too sentimental and it's only a number 🤷‍♂️

Nah, I get your point but I don't mind it. Thierry's number is like Excalibur or Mjolnir, the player can carry it or he can't, the number doesn't care. I'd still rather sign the guy who wants to try.

Meatwad fair enough. For some reason I thought he took 14 after the contract extension and started with something else but that must have been only Theo that happened with.
