Rumor was that we wanted to get Isak but it was too late and much. I don't think Isak would've done anything for us, he's broken. Gyok was the best option we could get

Yeah not sure our season looks any different (better) with any of Ollie Watkins, Mateta, Ferran Torres, etc.

I think the bigger issue is the drop of form from our wingers. We went from riding the hot hand last season between Trossard and Martinelli to neither being great, and from Saka carrying us to praying Dowman unseats Madueke all while our 2nd best RWF from last year (Nwaneri) was shipped off.

Doc this. gyok is a failed project and we need to cut bait and run. im hoping arteta is ruthless on this.

I think arteta made the right choice starting havertz today too. we're unable to high press without havertz in the team, and the high press is our only source of open play creativity. gyok needs be reduced to supersub for the remainder of the season.

Gazza M Odegaard has a bigger impact on our press than Havertz. Gyokeres has been fine pressing, there’s barely a boost when Havertz starts…don’t let a lucky goal suggest otherwise.

Gyokeres may have his flaws but is still his first season at the club. We also are not geared to play to his strengths. Would like to think he will improve next season as he has further time to adapt to his team mates and the Premier League.

I'm not a fan of Havertz, his availability being a big issue meaning he needs to be super productive when he is fit to justify our investment in him. That said, I'm surprised we haven't experimented more with both him and Gyokeres upfront as sure that could be a potent combination in certain situations.

DKGooner I would play Gyokeres, Havertz, Saka, Eze and Odegaard together as much as possible. None of this double pivot bullshit.

Gyokeres had a slow start but in this calendar year he's been pretty effective.

Gurgen was thinking similar. Eze wide, Ode deeper and Havertz in the pocket behind Gyok is our best bet for goals for the rest of the season. Whoever on the right wing till Saka is back.

Only hope of selling this dud will be this summer, still has some value from last season scoring a million goals against a bunch of nobodies... Hopefully an Italian team will look at him and think he could still do a job in a worse league... as after that he will be going nowhere and no serious offer would be coming in for him.. Just need to take the hit and sell, even if its for half the price we bought him.

Man hit the jackpot coming to this club, his technique is of a championship player, and an average one, not a good one... could tell that from the first minute of watching a comp of him on YouTube....no wonder he went on strike and broke up with his girlfriend to come here.

Ultimately he's a had a mid season so far. Slow start but been one of the better strikers around this calendar year. If you want to give him no grace for time to adapt to the league at all to suit your agendas then thats fine whatever but objectively he's been one of the leagues best strikers in 2026.

Qwiss For me I think we needed to sign a striker and I can see why we may have prioritised Gyokeres. But part of that argument had to be he's ready now to deliver substantial goals. If he needed time to acclimatise then actually I think that undermines some of the case for choosing him over a younger player.

He's supposed to be a right now buy for me. In terms of getting better next season the main inhibitors are his technical level is just too poor for the premier League and that reality has just been shown. He's not going to improve his technical level now that's his the player he is.

I think all of these things are true:

We'd have been worse off without Viktor this season.

We've been lucky he's been so available.

He has scored some important goals for us.

He has also been a complete non entity in many matches.

He appears to lack either the technique, touch, pace or the physicality to really prosper on a regular basis as our centre forward.

Finally, he is not suited to our style of football.

I think he's a bit of a donkey really - I see Gooners walking around in their Gyokeres shirts and genuinely feel a bit bad for them.
