I didn't say it didn't count.

The issue is that that data point has erroneously been attributed to Gyokeres being a top tier striker (think it's quite clear by now that's not the case, whatever your mileage on the player).

Scoring two pens and another goal against a weak City backline isn't a benchmark of success.

The reason to start Gyokeres is because he has momentum, rhythm and has finally built relationships with the team and his record since the turn of the year has been great. He's also instrumental to the press and the number of goals we concede when he goes off is testament to that.

Havertz on the other hand has had a stop start season, has just returned from injury and hasn't put two games together. He's not firing on all cylinders like Gyokeres is. All things equal it would be Havertz but right now, it's a no brainer to start Gyokeres and he will start.

I don't think there's close to enough data to compare the number of goals we conede when Gyokeres plays without Havertz compared to when he comes off for Havertz. Unless you're doing that, it's not really relevant to whether Havertz should play.

Nacho Montreal scored against them in an FA Cup semi but it has no bearing on whether or not he's a top goalscorer

Jahmai Simpson-Pusey should unironically look into getting into the trades. Perhaps not plumbing necessarily. Maybe an auto mechanic or a carpenter or something but that is the general direction of things.

I think Gyok is a good enough player. But I also watched the Madrid derby last night with a keen eye on Alvarez. The guy has incredible movement and link-up play, like Havertz. But what he has over both Havertz and Gyok is ability to make his own shot. Saw the same in the games against the Spuds.

What he doesn't have, and which I don't think Arteta will be able to ignore, is the height and strength of Havertz and height of Gyok. Mikel loves his players being tall.

The reason he can't get his shots away is because he is up against much better players who are physically superior to him not because Arteta's system doesn't allow him to.
