The issue with Jesus is that he's not a great footballer, it's that simple. People who think he is generally confuse being a good player with having a good touch on the ball. 99% of the job of a striker in any given match is done off the ball. The 1% they have the ball would nearly always be better spent closer to goal.
Jesus will give you a few performances and then inevitably tail off, and he was like this before the injury too: won't hold a line, can't challenge defenders, will instead drop deep because he wants to get on the ball, and so forth. Big red warning flag on strikers who play like this: they're not good enough to be midfielders and they're not athletic enough to be wingers, so they end up being inbetweeny forwards instead.
