I'm not a Havertz hater, but there's not much comparison to Havertz here because Madueke will be on wages that allow reselling him or using him as a fringe player without a guilty conscience. He's also a very different player and personality as far as I can see. As the listings above show, the fee we've paid is quite normal.

Yeah he's a squad player he doesn't excel at anything and his best attribute is working hard but that isn't what you should be looking for firstly in forwards.

Absolutely. Glad we have him. Hope he gets some end product going soon, but was out best attacking outlet by miles..won us all those corners, and put Kerkez under a lot of pressure, limiting his offensive contributions. Shame rice couldn't find a single target.

Starting to change my mind about him, seems very direct and attack minded, if this is what he managed against the current champions we can expect him to cause chaos against lesser teams.

At least he tried to make something happen even if it didn’t come off. Looked like anything good would,come from him in the front four. Gyok was disappointing and Martinelli less said the better.

daredevil what I thought too. He at least was the only one who really tried to get at a defender, but he never got past him from memory and maybe had a couple of shots blocked. I'm possibly biased in not seeing it though since I didn't want him to begin with and don't think he improves us.

invisibleman18 I agree and he's good at running at the opposition but the criticism from Chelsea mates was his end product just isn't there more often then not. That's what we need to see if he's going to improve us.

I didn't watch the game - just going by the video you shared. Getting corners out of someone isn't my measure of success. It's creating chances, scoring goals, etc. It looks to me in that video that Kerkez stopped him at every encounter.

I judge Madueke as a squad player and he did well. Having someone that can run directly and force the issue is a huge help, particularly in a team that doesn't have many others capable of doing the same. Plus he got our only shot on target - overall our best attacker on the day and looks like he'll be a good squad player.

The downside is that when he gets going on one of his runs, he's not aware of anything around him.

His passing is really poor. Could have conceded from one of his lax passes in the first half.

Great pace and directness though. Our version of Doku.

Was our best attacker yesterday with one good shot, one blocked shot, winning a few corners, carrying the ball forward and generally being direct. Illustrates perfectly how lame we were going forward.

he's got a one-track mind as a player. he'll probably be useful as a squaddie and impact player, but I can't see him holding down a starting berth ahead of eze or saka

Gazza M he's obviously not a starter. He'll be a decent rotation option though. Going to league cup matches with a front line of Martinelli, Havertz and Madueke will be fun. That's 2/3s of last seasons first choice front line.
