Gazza M Nah, they started faster and stronger, we gifted them their goal and then they sat back when their energy levels dropped in the second half. On the other hand, we pushed much harder in the second half trying to climb out of the hole we dug. Wasn't much between the teams physically, just when the effort was expended and to what result.

That's good to know. The physical level is what preseason is all about. We had a season or two with Wenger where we were a month behind, and once we finally caught up the league was already over.

Burnwinter let's hope so. We've spent the last 12 months thinking it was just a phase and that the football will flow again but it hasn't, so I'm sceptical that it'll suddenly turn around in 2 weeks.

Yeah, well look at the preseason games they have played and look at ours. We've played Milan, Newcastle and Tottenham (and a behind door game v Wolves?).. They've played Reading, Luton and Wycombe. They've had pretty easy preseason

We're getting ourselves more prepared with games against real teams (and Spurs). Next up is Villareal.

tazmania we looked more threatening towards the end. Not really anything to do with Saka, we just looked to push a bit more.

Burnwinter we've an interesting pre-season strategy in that we play a lot of very strong teams. I see Liverpool have been playing a mix of CL level teams and local Asian teams. We aren't getting those easy games so its natural that we are going to look tired at times.

USArsenal there we go, Spurs mixing it too while we only play strong sides.

Overall today was frustrating and its easy to get carried away when seeing the same patterns from our lowest points last season but it is just pre-season and we should try to remain rational.

Hopefully we haven't ruined him playing him injured last season. He's never look right since.

Remember spurs played Lennon injured and he was always shit after. Milan did it with kaka. Rafa played Torres injured that last season at Liverpool he flogged him like a horse.
We played white injured and he missed the following season we don't know what his levels like now.
Liverpool played Sturridge with an ankle injury that season they were going for the title they just injected him before the games he lost all his dynamism after and never recovered at all.

We've pushed this squad past breaking point. It'll be interesting to see if we've totally destroyed him or if he can recover.

You do wonder if our transfer business is planning for the possibility that Ode might not come back properly this season. We could have either Havertz, Saka or Eze take up the role behind the striker. If we expect one of them to occupy that position most of the time then signing both Madueke and Eze makes a lot more sense.

odegaard needs serious competition and we need to option to play two creative midfielders within the 3.

Martinelli and Trossard ain’t it for various reasons.

Shame we likely can’t go huge on a left winger like Barcola but maybe we can get creative there.

Just watched the highlights. Useful to see Spurs targeting Raya that way, gives us the chance to fix it before the season starts.

Also encouraging to see Dowman thump a volley with his weaker foot. Zubi doesn't appear shot shy either.

Yea a lot of jersey pulling on him you'd never get away with on VAR. But they definitely got in his head.

I thought our touches were heavy when we were running. These guys are running on dead legs from heavy conditioning.

If you knacker a player they never come back, we did it to Lauren, Liverpool did it to Torres. We've done it to ode. He'll either bounce back quickly this season or it's probably gone forever.
