that look was for what happened at 87:10. merino half-stepped into a duel and lost and from that point we only had panicked clearances while wolves dominated the ball until they scored. it was a long period so it really got a chance to stick in arteta's mind and not just be a passing moment.

Pepe LeFrits Fully agree with this. Sounds as if we just lost a few more months of a fit Ben White because he "had to play" in one low profile match. I hope some of the numbers people are able to present back to Arteta how stupid this kind of thing is.

Pepe LeFrits ya this is bullshit. MLS must've fucked something up big time because the lack of faith in him this season is very odd. He's young and shouldn't be starting every week for an elite team but a game against wolves is a no brainer. Same with nwaneri in other games

Very frustrating. It’s hard to blame the medical team when Arteta’s clearly identified the risk and plays Ben White anyway. Just trust your squad ffs.

I really don’t get why Norgaard doesn’t get any closing minutes - I get that he’s a fairly basic midfielder and no where near the level of someone like Zubimendi but he’s had a career of seeing out awkward games like Villa or Wolves in this league. Instead we’re driving Rice and Zubimendi into the ground.

Mirth would have made way more sense than Merino. I love Merino but Arteta can't see him as the solution to every issue on the team. He's been brilliant up front but he's not a DM.

The fuckery with the back 4 was a bit much too. We'd have been better starting the game with the players we had after Whites injury. And he pushed White through the red zone for it. Felt a bit Partey at RB to me.

Kel Varnsen we aren't the best attacking team in the world right now but we are closer to it than most. City are the only better attacking team in the PL on both goals scored and xG (we are way ahead on xGA). We are a good attacking side.

Agree with that. We were asking for it. Reminded me a lot of the end of the Sunderland match. Its bad habit Arteta needs to break.

Yes, but that was more out of necessity because Cala was injured half the time. And he made his fair share of mistakes in those games (well the games he played overall). He seems to lackadaisical on the ball far too often, and he ends up getting caught in a bad position, forcing him to foul someone.

His intensity reminds me of Maitland-Niles sometimes. Which always just seemed to casual.

We're a very good attacking side when it comes to set pieces and a mediocre one when it comes to open play.
In total, we're a pretty good attacking side.

However, I don't see why we should be mediocre from open play.

That chart shows us as 6th in open-play xg. I'd call that good rather than mediocre. We're excellent at set pieces, which combines to make us a very good offensive team. We're also a truly outstanding defensive team - the xga gap between us in first and Newcastle in 2nd is as big as that between 2nd and the relegation places (using that same chart).
That adds up to being an excellent team, first in the league.
People may not enjoy our control-ball structure, that's okay, but it's not the same as not being good.
