Our ability to play vertically at pace fell off a cliff when we replaced Xhaka with Rice. I vividly remember the United game in 23/24 and how it compared to the 22/23. We had them on the ropes in 22/23 as we chased a winner and even though Rice also found a winner in 23/24 - I remember getting pissed at how slow Rice was at moving the ball. Too many touches and too relaxed - he just lacked the urgency and Zubi replacing Partey has also worsened things from a build up perspective.

Maybe feels a bit like clutching at straws, but it’s not a forgone conclusion just yet.

I would not be surprised to see the team raise their game against City. It would likely be a soulless, unambitious, backs against the wall performance and a painful watch, but it’s not beyond us to get a draw away at City. I don’t expect it but you never know.

Unfortunately it would entirely like us to get a point or three at City the lose the following game anyway.

Who knows though. It’s still alive.

That is my fear as well, we need to go to City and beat them there or I think they'll win the title. With the way we are currently playing that doesn't look likely.

Concentrate on tonight first, then worry about City. No point even thinking about Newcastle at all at this stage.

we were absolutely given a gift when we beat Brighton inconvincingly and city stalled against west ham. the fact we couldn't take confidence and renewed energy off the back such a fortuitous turn of events speaks volumes about our mentality. theres something about mikels approach that has a deleterious effect on the players minds for around 25-30% of the season

He just puts too much pressure and nervous energy on things. The second I heard that war cry the other day, against Bournemouth at home out of all games, I knew he'd cause the players to shit themselves. We're not playing City/Liverpool or a CL semi final.

It's fucking Bournemouth at home ffs in a round 32 league game with 6 more remaining. Just tell them to go out there and get the job done. None of this life or death shit. Almost feels like we have @Sicario2 giving team talks to the players.

He definitely has zero chill, let alone even a skerrick of the sangfroid of Wenger's heyday. Can't stop bunny-hopping around the technical area and smile till we're at least three goals up, which at the moment means he never stops. 🙄
