Anyway, I'm over this result now, colossal as the disappointment was yesterday.
I'm not saying this to be mean, but I think people need to grow some thicker skin on their noses. I get that many of the fans are traumatised by the last couple of years of mental frailty but I'm telling you, we're past that now with the players we have.
The idea that we've somehow stumbled onto a 9 point lead in the most competitive football league in the world, while competing against the wealthiest clubs in the history of the sport, is laughable and not worth taking seriously. And neither is any criticism that suggests we have bad players who somehow got us there through short moments of quality in-between the shitness. Honestly, what kind of analysis is that? Maybe we didn't sign the exact players you wanted in the summer, and maybe we don't play the exact football you prefer, but we're right on the verge of the biggest triumph this club has enjoyed in more than two decades. Don't let negative feelings define this season for you.
Going out of cup tournaments is a bit of a tradition in April for all good teams, and the fans have always lost their shit over it no matter how successful their club is in the league. Only difference is that social media wasn't around in 2004. If you guys think things were different back then, well, here's some archived history from the Old Country that makes for great reading:
