Sicario2 that bottling team made a CL final recently and has pedigree of beating teams like Barcelona Bayern or Liverpool on the way there. Likewise that ancient team Inter just knocked out the German and Spanish champions the latter a team that scored 170 goals so far this season. I'd argue either team would have a 50%+ chance of beating either finalist of last season.

It's knockout football there's always a chance but we messed up in the first leg. Don't give us much of a chance we've looked anaemic for months outside the Madrid tie.

Sicario2 I remember reading that Arsenal wouldn't have a better chance of winning the UCL last year when we lost to Bayern and here we are one year later... I do think we have to break through in the next 1-2 years but I also think that regardless of how tonight goes, we will be back as one of the top 4-5 favorites next year and in a similar position to win it. That being said, there's no better opportunity than the present and I really hope the team shows up today and gives us a performance to remember.

I've always thought this is a bit reductive and based on a ver limited sample size. Kinda like how we couldn't win away in Europe...

But yes, I agree we need to be 'handbrake off'. I would caveat that isn't just down to Arteta though, the players need to be willing to take the risks needed.

Arteta is the source of our conservative nature. I remarked on how in the 2nd half yesterday when Barcelona was up by a goal Flick brought on Lewandowski. I can't see Arteta making a move like that, unless we are chasing a game. His default is control, risk aversion.

How did that go for him? Being too defensive is bad but so is being too attacking. You need balance and more importantly you need to know when to move from one to the other.

Qwiss we got the balance right second half of last season when we were regularly scoring 3 or 4 while keeping clean sheets. But that also required all of Havertz, Odegaard and Saka on song at once. We have not had that this year, highlighting some frailty and a need for another legit option.

But yeah anytime you laud teams for scoring 6 or 7 goals, you also need to honestly point out they conceded 6 or 7 goals over 180 minutes

Trossard up front, I would much prefer Merino, but I guess it is what it is.
Edit. Actually it is only Flashscores that posted lineups and it might be incorrect as it has Dembele starting and other sources are claiming he starts on the bench.
Second edit. I haven't noticed it were predicted lineups, hopefully Merino starts as some sources claim.
