The disappointing thing is when we've hit a form/good team at least on the first leg we've been beaten. As great as the PSV and Madrid results were I didn't feel we were particularly tested and I felt PSG could do that.
As has been said it's not over teams can have setbacks but you've got to be able to respond, so far we've failed under Arteta in these moments we now have to go away and get a result or we will fall into our stereotype of the nearly team who are never going to be able to deliver because that's just what 'Arsenal' do.

Rice was all set up to have an all timer till Partey missed, in turn pulling Rice back 10-20 yards.

Not saying his best form was isolated to 2022, but that August-December 2022 level was his best.

He's had two great spells: mid-late 2022 and early-mid 2024. He's mostly been a half-season performer. I say 'mostly' because he's been a full season underperformer in 24/25.

Just caught the replay. Yeah very unfortunate to concede that early against a solid team like PSG. They were tactically on point. Took advantage of our discipline to control us and keep us chasing after the ball. And we couldn't capitalize on the few chances we got.

Not ideal, but not the worst first leg result. We'll just have to go do it in Paris.

I was distracted watching the game today so I re watched. I was convinced we could beat them and I'm convinced we can in the return leg. The first 15 and last 10 were some of the worst I've seen us. Arteta realized our right was fucked and Rice was no where to help and changed it then we took off. If Martinelli and Leo weren't useless sometimes and Donarumma wasn't a giant, we would've scored 2. We fucked it up.

Partey will be a big boost. Rice can take over. Merino can do better than Leo and Saka or Martinelli can get a goal or two. I'm still confident. Saka don't get a stupid yellow like that moron Partey.

The game gave me Arsenal vs Bayern vibes at times. That bothered me the most. It felt like we played with a mental or emotional handbrake on.

Know it's not the reason for the result but how can you be offise from a free kick seriously? There's genuinely no reason to start offside when the ball is stationary. Surely it's easier to run forwards onto it anyway.

Just so bitterly disappointed. Know it's not over yet but to win 2-0 there feels extremely unlikely. Just so gutting because this felt like an opportunity that comes so rarely. 19 years since we made the final for the only time, 16 years since we last made the semi final plus a 5 year period not even in it. Just feel so gutted knowing how long we have to wait to get this chance.

It’s hard to mark players you can’t see. It’s the same reason we start with a clutch of men at back post on corners. Defender can’t look at the ball and behind him at the same time.

Honestly, the first 20 minutes were dire. But first and foremost it was getting caught napping and then great execution by Dembele for their goal that proved the difference.

The first period reminded me of the moments that have cost us in recent seasons. It reminded me of Bayern last year. It reminded me of the White, Partey and Saka mixup that cost us a vital two points early last season.

Statistically we were "expected" to outscore PSG and we generated some handsome chances. PSG also spurned some golden opportunities which I assume are being covered up by the way the xG values are generated. I am weary of Trossard and Martinelli, both had sharpish chances fall to them but they couldn't find the killer edge.

There is no altering the fact that having this kind of luck at home gives us a mountain to climb away, but it isn't completely impossible. The luck just has to be reversed.

Yep. Just 1-0. It's the best worst case scenario. Nothing to lose. Go out there and get it if you really want it. We have no choice but to step up or fucking fold. I think we can step up. I think we can be a bit sharper than we were tonight. I think Arteta learns and tweaks. And of course, we'll have Partey back (sorry tam). He's key. It should be a fun second leg.

Yeah he shinned it and it caused a weird bobble that caught Raya out.

I don't think Trossard and Martin Ellis big chances were bad for them, just excellent from Donarumma. They both played good shots to the back post, the save for Martinellis was particularly good.

I think we were a little more negative overall than we needed to be. Hopefully being one down will force us to go for it from minute one in Paris. Rice back in CM should help too.

Tam Agree and in the next game we'll have Rice higher up the pitch and Merino's physicality up top as well. It won't be as easy for them.

Gurgen Cutting out passing to Saka funnily enough is exactly what Lahm said needs to be done to deal with Saka. I think we have got a chance, we need to make sure we keep it tight and as we saw against Villa they can get easily rattled. All the pressure will be on them next week.

I think we basically got rattled, they scored an early goal and then they went for us, we were clearly all over the place but they didn't finish the job off. Next 70 or so mins I think we edged it, PSG were a bit on the ropes before half time, I think an extra 5 or so mins and we score in that spell. We had the chances to bring it level, though they had some good chances as well to be fair.

But it's pretty easy to take a step or two forward and leave them more offside. It's not like the defender just thinks they must not be on the pitch because they are behind him. Corners are a bit different given you can't be offside with the ball being already on the goal line.
