Big Willie Imagine then what we'd have won had we had that type of striker?
I don't think it would make much difference to us because we don't create enough chances. I know some don't believe in this but if you look at a metric like xG for this season. Our xG is 59.1 and we've scored 67 goals, Liverpool's xG is 81 and they've scored 85. Clear the problem is deeper than not just having a CF.
I think if we sign a top class LW and a decent false 9 that will make us a better team imo. In recent years Liverpool and Man City have shown you don't need a big goal scoring CF to win titles and score fuck load of goals.
Big Willie As opposed to these mythical wingers who are asked to play auxillary fullback all night long and then being expected to be the goalscorers and providers and the while oreventing the opposition from scoring against us.
They managed previous two seasons just fine and we conceded less goals last season.
There are a few problems in the team, firstly the midfield balance hasn't been right, I think Zubimendi goes a long way in sorting that out. Then Odegaard has been complete and utter shite and I'm not entirely convinced he is the right man going forward but I appreciate with a finite budget we won't be able to resolve that this summer.
We've had a serious injury to our main creative spark in Saka and loads of other injuries, previous years we've kept our attacking players relatively fit and we stupidly let Eddie, ESR and Vieira go and only bought in Sterling. Martinelli, Trossard and Odegaard have all been not good enough this season just to make things worse.
This is why for me signing a wide forward is more important than a CF, we need more spark from our wide areas. Unless we sign Isak I'm not 100% convinced the other players we've been linked to will be a serious upgrade on what we already have.
