Klaus If Gyökeres goes to United, he was always an embarrassment and we shouldn't have wanted him. If there's a British Sporting CP connection that would make more sense, that'd be Viana at City rather than Amorim at United. But Haaland's at City, meaning that unless the robot's off to Spain our real competition for Gyökeres would be more likely to be Liverpool. I've not heard anything in that regard just yet … so perhaps there is a sliver of hope.

Burnwinter The idea is that Amorim would be an argument for him to go to United I guess, but I don't think so. Even if we're ignoring how incredibly poor United are at the moment, those two didn't end things on a good note. There was a row between Amorim and some of the better Sporting players like Gyökeres and Hjulmand. Apparently Amorim had convinced them to stay on for another season with the promise that he'd see out the season too and manage them through their Champions League campaign. Then barely two months into the season he gave his two week's notice and fucked off to Manchester.

I was fairly convinced on Gyokeres but watching how hard @Klaus is pushing him is reminding me of Morata and Jovetic.

Claudius yeah that's the simple and hopefully effective route this summer. There is no reason to do anything silly. What we need is obvious. And if you get Zubi and Gyokeres you can take a bit of risk on a winger.

Burnwinter it'd be a huge lack of ambition to go to United. I don't think he'll do that. He wont even be sure that Amorim will be there long term.

Makes sense, though I reckon if Amorim's United were charging up the the league table his decision to move on would be put in a rather different light. It's because United are the shittest they've been for forty years that Gyökeres tying himself to the mast of United's galleon of ghosts, ghouls and golems would be unbelievably dumb.

Gyokeres really seems like a no brainer.

FEBravo would be mental illness to overlook him if he is interested in us. If he fails, you can only shrug. Sesko is a much bigger risk for the next 2 seasons than Gyokeres. We want to win things now. So buy accordingly. Even on the wing I would rather readymade players.
We have projects like Nwaneri and Dowman. Don’t need more .

Yeah, and given Amorim convinced him to stay at Sporting, and then fucked off to United part way through the season did not sit that well with Gyokeres either. I don't think he's too worried about United at the moment. He would never be able to transform them into a powerhouse all by himself, and even if they are in the CL (if they win Europa), they would still be pretty shit, and i can see them sitting mid table next season (which is an improvement, but not good enough). And they would crash out of the CL and then have nothing. Gyokeres has ambition NOW, and we are much much closer to being the finished article than ManU are.

Pepe LeFrits I think you're right and I think that's what's dictating Berta's thinking on the situation when you're now seeing Gyokeres being quoted for between £50-60m.

Interesting link, I really rate him as a player and with a year left on his contract maybe a deal can be done. Rumours again today that Trossard might be leaving but wonder how Mbeumo fits in. Mainly plays on the right and off the striker.
