Klaus Was the same with Zubimendi wasn't it? He knew Xabi would come sniffing and made sure to close the deal.
From the sounds of it the Zubimendi deal is mostly on Edu, it was strongly rumoured that our initial approach was 2 years ago, last summer we had it agreed with him that he would join this summer. Hence why he turned down Liverpool last summer even though they had activated his release clause. I think the release clause was just purely formalities for most clubs but only Arsenal and Real Madrid have interested the player.
Berta has probably just gone in to make sure if any loose ends need sorting. It does sound like he is a lot more on it though and not waiting around to see how things progress, if you look at our LW search he is clearly putting out feelers for 4/5 different players to make sure we don't get into the position we did last summer where we chased Nico Williams all summer only to not sign him.
