Assuming that Zubimendi and Sesko are coming in (still big assumptions- I’ll believe it only when Ornstein or Mokbel says it’s done and it’s on the .com), I still think we need to bring in a winger and a versatile player who can play in midfield or wing in a pinch.
I really want to see us move for Eze as that versatile player. He has a release clause, is very PL proven and coming off a phenomenal second half of the year. I would love to see him in either advanced midfield role or even on the wing as more of a playmaker. He can push Odegaard on the right as well as be rotation there, give us a more attacking option on the left against pesky low blocks when Rice or Merino may not be the best option and he can be a playmaking winger off the bench or as a different option.
I doubt we could still afford Williams if we went for Eze but if we could, he’d still be my choice on the wing to add explosiveness and game breaking pace. If it were up to me, I’d move Trossard on this summer to free up funds to get Eze and Nico. But if we can’t, I think we could get Gittens on better payment terms to fit into the budget better. He’s more of a project but the talent is there and we wouldn’t need him to hit the ground running.
Zubimendi, Sesko, Eze, Williams/Gittens and then replacing anyone else we may sell in the defense and that’s a 10/10 window for me.
