The debate between Rodrygo and Williams really interests me.
Rodrygo enjoys playing more centrally than holding/providing width. In my mind, signing him would require adjustments to the role that Rice and our LB play. It would likely lead our left wing/channel play (tactics) to more closely resemble what happens on the right.
That works for me if we persist with Havertz as our striker as we need more goals, and Rodrygo (playing narrow) strikes me as someone who would out score Williams and Martinelli.
However, if we want to persist with our left winger holding wide - with Rice/MLS in the channel- then Williams seems a better fit. My question then becomes who’s going to score more?
Seems we’d need a new central striker alongside Williams, and that would be quite the outlay.
Zubimendi + Rodrygo seems to make sense money wise.
Zubimendi + Williams leaves me worried we won’t sign a CF.
Zubimendi + Sesko/Gyokeres and we’re going to be left wondering how/if our left wing (Martinelli) can improve?
