samthegooner Agreed, with Zubimendi and Williams we should be able to convince them before the window and it is a case of paying the release clause. Sociedad might be open to do a structured deal but Athletic Bilbao in the past have usually wanted release clause fully paid before releasing player. With Joan Garcia sounds like we have convinced the player and already talk of _€25m deal agreed.

The striker deal could drag on a bit longer so important to get the straight forward deals over the line quickly.

If you can get Isak I think thats bigger than getting Williams plus Sesko/Gyokeres. And I rate Williams quite highly but there are other wingers you can go for later on and Martinelli with Trossard for another year would be acceptable if you could get Isak.

Qwiss For me, we cannot do another year of Martinelli and Trossard. That would be absolutely brutal. We need a left winger who can beat his man 1-on-1, so badly. Trossard can't be any more than a bit player / supersub if he's here next season – he just can't hack it physically.

I would take the Gyokeres/Williams duo over Isak. It would be nice to sign someone PL-tested, but I don't think we need a superstar per se. We need creativity on the left wing and 'predator instinct' in the box.

flobaba yeah he was with me in wanting Isak over Jesus when they both moved. However he has a few misses as well, big fan of Morata from what I recall. Jovetic too.

Aside from the criticisms I've already made, don't people find Gyokeres fundamentally, just a bit...boring? Plays like an AI-assisted Grant Holt.

Don Pacifico I completely agree, I'd rather Isak or Sesko by a margin, but then I really don't know my horseflesh too well. I find it pretty hard to imagine how a classic 9, even a good one, would work in our lineup against the mid and low blocks, other than by drawing defenders a bit more than Havertz does.

CPM we have creativity on the left. Martinelli has been creating loads lately but we lack people to finish the chances. He can also beat his man. Trossards fallen off a bit but he's still a decent player. As I said there are plenty of decent/gamble left wingers, just like there are plenty of similar at CF. Isak is one of the only guaranteed world class attackers available. He's also 25 and hitting his peak, not is the perfect time to get him. I'd take him and wait another year for a winger to challenge Martinelli.

I was 60/40 jesus over isak admittedly. it was a case of higher risk higher reward in the form of isak, or the league experience and connection with arteta in the form of jesus. definitely a bit of a sliding doors moment

Burnwinter I think it's why Isak has to remain an option regardless of price and also why I think Sesko and Ekitike are instinctively more interesting options. Gyokeres doesn't look like he has much programmed into his hard drive other than run and shoot.

But that's been one of our biggest problems, not shooting enough. With the full team healthy, we certainly create enough chances. But if you don't shoot the ball, you can't score. Which is why its exciting to watch someone like Ethan, who is not afraid to shoot. Even if he doesnt score, its testing the keeper and at least making it exciting. Tappy tappy around without shooting is a drain on energy for the fans. Would Gyokeres be my first choice? Probably not. But would he improve our scoring rate? Probably. I would guess he would come at a significantly lower price than Isak or Sesko as well. (Which, in theory, would open the door for additional signings such as Nico or someone of that ilk)

I wouldn't cry if we signed Sesko but he's not exactly banging them in over in Germany. How many do you reckon Havertz would score playing CF in the Bundesliga? Feel like Sesko is very much a signing for the future and I'm not really wanting that after all this time waiting for a CF. Ekitike looks better and more ready to step up if we want a youngster.

He's never played more than 39 games in a season (and that includes cups and European games added in). 32 of 38 games is the highest league amount of games he's completed, ONCE. (The others are like 24, 25 or 27)
