I dunno but logically we'd leave signing Eze until last if we were looking at him or Rodrygo but not both.

Eze strikes me as the safer bet, him being league ready, native to the country and an Arsenal fan is worth a lot. Rodrygo probably has more potential though.

Eze certainly has a higher floor as he's league adapted and excited to be here. Plus he has a little more swag than Rodrygo, and we're in need as we a little boring under Arteta.

Rodrygo probably has a higher ceiling and can play across all three forward positions. That flexibility is enticing in case any of our starters is ever hurt or off form.

Think I'd prefer Eze all things considered.

MistaT worth noting that Eze can also drop into midfield (as well as on the wing) to give us a bit more variety too.

Rodrygo could be a superstar but I don't actually think he wants to be anywhere other than Madrid and we're not in a position to take that gamble.

Mirth Yeah Rodrygo is the sort of signing I feel you should only make if you can afford it to go wrong. If we were Liverpool and had just won the league we should have taken that gamble. Best case you get someone who can decide a CL final. Worst case you're still gonna have your title-winning team.

My head says Eze but Rodrygo could be the x-factor that this team needs. Rodrygo-Gyokeres-Saka is a ridiculous front line. Our weakness suddenly becomes a huge strength.

Double-8 set-up with Eze and Ode and a front three of Marti-Gyok-Saka would be pretty tasty.

Also, Eze would allow us to go 4-4-2 with Gyok-Havertz up front. 🤤

Eze every day of the week over Rodrygo. I’m 99 percent sure Eze will bang at Arsenal, cant say the same with Rodrygo, so def more risk.

Eze would hit the ground running and is in his prime.

Sicario2 agree. Also if Jesus can somehow manage to stay fit we have a similar profile to Rodrygo already

awooga83 I think it does. It's why I asked how does one evaluate the Madueke transfer come end of season. For me, it's about how much does he allow us rest Saka in "lesser" games like Carling Cup, early stage FA Cup, play only about 3/4s of the full 90 in league games, and even some champions league games, without us dropping points. If he facilitates this, and ensures Saka is fit and fresh for the business end of the season for me he would have been an outstanding success.

There are not many players of or close to Saka's level available, that's just fachts, and so the recipe for success is to make sure our best 11, (including and esp Saka) is as fresh as possible through the course of a long, hard season. It's a tactics and squad game these days as much as it is player quality.

flobaba I think my position is Saka isn't enough, we need additional difference makers. It'll be great to rest him at times but we need to add quality to the first team to take the step up. We've seen the attempts to win with just Saka and to me we know it's not likely to get us where we want. It's not that depth isn't good but I don't think it's what is most needed. We had games where Saka played and we didn't have enough quality and he couldn't always influence the game as we would hope and we had nothing else.

I reckon we should try to buy out Jesus same we did with Tommy, take the loss and save what we can.

Klaus yeah I think any plans for next season should not include him you cannot rely on him unfortunately.

awooga83 that's the point of Gyokeres isn't it, plus the additional attacking impetus that an Eze (or whomever) would give us. Plus Rice's expanded free role in the midfield through Zubimendi.

I reckon Eze is the better player but Rodrygo the better winger.

Qwiss also with the way we set up on the left, I wonder if MLS, Eze and Rice will just crowd each other out? So far Arteta’s always wanted Martinelli high and wide but that’s not Eze’s game.

Mirth lol this would be the football equivalent of a #firstworldproblem. Get where you are coming from but would be the least of our issues imo.

The most underrated signing of this summer is Gabriel Heinze btw, think he will add another level of intensity that we sometimes lacked last year.
