Eze and Madueke aren't similar players at all. Eze and Rodrygo are extremely similar. Eze being a potentially cheaper alternative to Rodrygo makes the most amount of sense.

If he was happy to do this, then I don't think we would be spending money on Madueke. I think scrambling for Madueke is precisely a reaction to Nwaneri saying that he doesn't want to do this.

It seems like we are going to turn our attention to wrapping up Eze after Gyokeres. I wonder if Madueke is going to be the backup plan to Rodrygo, which would make sense. However, the buzz on social media is that we are still trying to get all three, which doesn't seem to make much sense to me unless Nwaneri is leaving or we are selling both Martinelli and Trossard. Although we don't know if his concerns for resigning are truly playing time or just improved financial terms.

Emphasis added. I think, based on what we've seen, the idea that midfield is "his more natural role" is a talking point taken from somewhere on high (i.e. probably Nwaneri's agent).

Ethan Nwaneri can play [out wide] but in the long term, he has been earmarked for a central role. That leaves Arsenal without an obvious alternative to Bukayo Saka.

Sounds like the "conversation to be had" about Nwaneri's position took place.

So much doubt around Gyokeres because of how he fared in the past. It just completely rules out the possibility that players can make huge improvements with experience that may not have seemed possible early on in their career. Some players evolve into more than their talent portends when they are younger. Not every player has the same trajectory.

I agree with that and don’t get the clamour from people to have him move infield or be considered Odegaard’s understudy. He may very well end up there, but I just don’t see that in his game just now, and in him I don’t see any sign he can manage a game or be involved in a significant way from the middle in terms of drawing the team together, managing the tempo etc. He’s shown he can be devastatingly effective out wide, but not any more than that yet.

That's gunnerblog answering mailbag questions, its obviously idle speculation. He continues with this

Arsenal took Nwaneri out of the spotlight somewhat in the final weeks of the season. I’m sure they had their reasons. But he will be desperate to play — and will probably want assurances about how and when that game-time will come before committing to a new deal.

He has no clue whats going on.

Your other links aren't loading up for some reason. Since day one everyone at the club has said his future is through the middle. You are taking that and going off on a complete tangent with it. What you've posted there seems to be an awful lot of adding 2 plus 2 and coming up with 5.

So it will probably be Trossard out, Madueke in and that is it when it comes to wingers.

HomeSteak That dude absolutely sucks. I've never seen such a huge ego for someone who has consistently gotten things wrong. Blocked him a couple of years ago and it was a great decision.

I don't buy that, we've already lost Sterling, who terrible as he was, was part of the squad and left us very thin when Arteta lost faith in him. If Trossard goes we'll need another player, and I don't think Arteta is going to be willing to gamble again on Jesus's fitness holding up for him to be an option wide either.

I blocked him too and I'm usually very tolerant of twitter rubbish.
He's an agenda driven nutcase, probably had the time of his life last season because of his anti-Odegaard agenda.

I think this summer has shown that Ornstein isn't as clued in to the inner workings of the club as he has been previously. He's certainly still informed to a degree but a lot of his comments have been anchored in the prerequisite that it's his understanding or his belief rather than citing sources in the club.

HandofArsenal has been a great source since last summer and I like InsideArsenal89 for rumors - although he was definitely late on the Gyokeres shift but he did provide an explanation for why he was under the belief we were moving for Sesko. InsideArsenal89 is the one who has been saying that Eze is next after Gyokeres and that the club ideally wants to bring in all three of Rodrygo/Eze/Madueke.

I would be happy enough if we sold Trossard and signed Madueke + Eze to deal with backing up Saka and Martinelli while adding another attacking left 8 option. Remember Leo did that as well on occasion.

I don't love the Madueke deal because of the things we're not allowed to say about sniffing bins, but overall it would be an improvement to the squad.

Coombs If Trossard is indeed leaving, I think Eze is definitely the right move for his versatility. I'm biased since I love him but I'd put him at my first priority amongst the three of him, Rodrygo and Madueke. I just think he would absolutely tear things up in our XI and be a game changer regardless of where he lines up.

Coombs the problem with Madueke is he's not better than Trossard so right now that's a downgrade, even if Madueke could improve over time. But why pay £40m for a guy who we hope can grow to Trossard level?

QuincyAbeyie Nope. I wouldn't consider it a failure but only getting Madueke out of those three would definitely be a bit of a downer. I am starting to come around on Madueke from where I was last year and at the initial link last week but he needs to be a complementary piece and not a headliner to our summer.
