Don Pacifico it’s a myth that strikers will depreciate fast once they are in their 30’s mate. Look at Chris Wood as an example or Lewa at Barca. This is not 1998 when players peak at 28/29 and then go downhill fast a few years later.

Relatively speaking he doesn’t have many miles in the clock compared to most 27 year olds and he knows this is is last big move so he will give it his all whilst he is here.

You are right that modern conditioning helps lengthen the careers of this generation of forwards but Lewandowski and Wood aren't anywhere near as reliant on their athleticism.

Sicario2 I'm happy we've pivoted efficiently and with the other business we've done this summer, I just have reservations that Gyokeres is worth the investment.

He will get us 20+ league goals for at least 3 years if he stays fit, I’m quite sure of that. Sesko has a higher ceiling but seems like a bit of a daft twat. Zubimendi and a proper striker will be transformational. New, rape free Arsenal.

Gurgen now that Partey has left Arsenal maybe it’s best for all of us to try and not constantly bring him up. It’s done and we move on. He has nothing to do with us getting a number 9 so feel it’s just silly mentioning him constantly.

Don Pacifico mate this guy is a fox in the box. We are not signing Henry 2.0. We are signing a striker to finish off our chances esp against low blocks. The others can run for him in 2/3 years. His main job is to score and he will continue doing that well into his 30’s as per the examples I gave.

Mirth Definitely. I think he's really similar to Diego Costa, Victor Osimhen, those type of players - Vardy has bits of them too but he isn't as much of a dribbler perhaps. Same tendency to put the whole foot through the ball though.

Sicario2 that's fair (although I'd be amazed if his shot conversion rate was comparable to what it is at Sporting), just a bit disappointing to be that limited in our expectations for our marquee CF. But maybe that's just something I need to get over.

I guess when I look at him, I don't imagine Liverpool, City, Bayern, Real or Barca fans coveting him. Call me spoilt but I want our attackers to be the envy of the best European clubs.

How many times have we seen Martinelli and Saka fire great balls across the 6 yard box only for no one to be within 10 yards? I love Havertz but he is not usually that guy. Gyokeres definitely seems like he is. From my limited viewing of his highlight tapes this year and UCL games, it seemed like he had to manufacture a lot of his own chances and often did it well (although maybe a little clunky aesthetically). Even if he struggles to do that in the PL, having a willing runner to both stretch defenses and bust his ass to get on the end of half chances is going to be such a breath of fresh air. I’m less worried about his technique and more excited about having a true bagman that’s going to leave everything on the pitch in an effort to score goals.

Don Pacifico who did you think we could get instead who was better? Isak is more of a sure thing but I think there is a chance Gyokeres can out do him in the PL.

Qwiss I'd rather Watkins if Sesko isn't coming (assuming we could get him for ballpark £40m). Premier League proven and at that kinda fee, you're not as financially committed to the signing meaning we can keep our powder dry for the next big CF that comes available (or invest elsewhere).
