Qwiss I really think it's a mistake letting Martinelli go before he has had a chance to play with a proper striker who can unlock his attacking qualities. There is a lot of focus on what he can't do at the moment, but he's a genius footballer with incredible potential. It seems like we love to talk about potential when it comes to guys like Sesko, Rodrygo, and so forth, but part of being a good manager is to also maximise the potential you already have in your squad. I don't think anyone thinks Martinelli is being optimally used at the moment.

Klaus I think it more speculation in the event a monster bid came in from Saudi, I don't think Arsenal are selling for £50m, probably would need to be close to £100m and the player pushing for it for us to consider imo.

Looks like my prediction of Sesko v Gyokeres dragging on to September could be correct.

Do we hedge our bets and go for a sure thing in Watkins in July/before the season starts?

If we did that then why the fuck didn’t we get him in Jan when we had all to play for.

Sicario2 Didn't they want £65m in January? He should be £40m max for him. Get Eze and another RW and that is more than firepower up top. Next summer go all in for Isak.

We should keep trying with Sesko for now, mid July if we are no closer ditch that option. I don't think we are in for Gyokeres personally....

Mirth Gyökeres likes to overload the left flank too. I reckon that's exactly what Martinelli needs to be unleashed: create a couple 2-against-1 situations out there and suddenly you've got two strikers who can rip a defence apart, and no one knows which one is gonna cut inside. Absolute nightmare to defend against.

JazzG I don’t understand how it takes 18 months of trailing and courting Sesko that we are still in no position to get him. We are not signing peak Messi from Barca to take this long/be this complicated.

Sicario2 It sounds like the club have changed the terms of the deal which is causing the delay. This happens in all sorts of deals, Leipzig are looking out for themselves as they should, if they are not honouring the deal they agreed that may have implications later on. Players will be a lot more insistent on release clauses and not extend contracts.

If we reach a deal great if not, then we need to be ready to move on. Walking away from a deal might annoy the fans but from a business point of view is the right thing. If one club proves you're a pushover every club will try it, this is why Man Utd have to pay over the top for all their transfers.

This is business man, it is strongly rumoured we agreed a deal for Zubimendi last summer and looks like the player and club have honoured their side. Leipzig have decided not to do this, is what it is.

Klaus Martinelli doesn't really like to cut inside and shoot. Major weakness in his game. When he plays out wide he is a touchline winger through and through. Beats his man outside, crosses and cutbacks inside.

More I think about Eze more excited I get, I think Morgan Rogers would have been my first choice but some of that is down to him being 5 years younger. Only downside to Eze is his age, I like our policy of big money signings mostly below 25/26 but Eze class so happy to make an exception. Look at how he just glides up the pitch, comfortable under pressure and skipping past players. Apart from Saka and injured Jesus we don't have a single player in our squad I'd fancy in a 1v1 against a good defensive player.

Had completely forgot he started off at Arsenal as well.

JazzG eze has been this good for at least 2-3 years, and he's another one who would've walked to arsenal if we'd ever bid for him. not sure why this is the first time we've been strongly linked.

JazzG Agree with this, I think he's a great option for us. Eze has got a scrap of pausa and that's one aspect we have lacked on the left side.

Eze is a good signing but not at the expense of a potential game changing LW or ST (whoever that might be).

Ideally we get Eze, Rodrygo and Gyokores/Sesko. This would mean our attacking options would be:

DM's: Zubi, Norgaard (Rice, Merino and MLS all capable of playing here too)
8: Rice, Merino (Eze, Nwaneri, MLS all options as well)
AM: Odegaard, Eze (Nwaneri as cover, maybe even Rodrygo)
Wingers: Saka (RW), Rodrygo (RW/LW), Martinelli (RW/LW), Eze (LW), Nwaneri (RW)
ST: Havertz, Gyokores, Sesko

Trossard would need to be sold/loaned out, and I would consider loaning Nwaneri out to a Bundesliga/La Liga/Serie A/Ligue 1 side.

I think the above is the minimum we need to compete next season. Anything short of that and we WILL finish 3rd at best.

I see Rodrygo and Eze as filling a very similar role, I can't see how we get both. Both would be LW who drift inside. I would be very happy with either.

CPM He used to do it all the time though, reminded me of Cristiano Ronaldo a bit. I think the way he's currently playing is due to necessity (no real striker to play off) and restrictive tactics (too much emphasis on crossing).

I think Eze in / Martinelli out without much net spending would be a great trade assuming we can bring in a high quality LW to start. That would leave us with New LW / Trossard; Ode / Eze; New ST / Havertz; Saka / Nwaneri as the frontline (with backups). Lots of flexibility with Trossard able to play both side, Eze as CAM / LW, etc.

Bernard Woolley I just don't think Trossard has much more to offer. If the new LW is injured, he'll have to play and he has hardly any pace or elite attributes to be effective nowadays.

Here’s an idea - get Gyokeres now and gentleman’s agreement a move for Sesko in a year’s time - giving us the opportunity to offload Jesus by that time

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert I agree - would ideally like a better backup LW, but there is only so much one can do and Eze's multi-position ability gives us incremental cover there.
