Right now that we have got the Jan window out of the way, lets start building up our hopes for the summer window before inevitably being let down again....

It's down at the end of Jabroni Drive, Heartbreak Hotel...

I'm not sure why CL football would be a deal breaker. Does Isak want to play for a title challenging club or not? Whether Newcastle get CL football or not, they aren't doing much any time soon, so how long is he going to hang around there. (Obviously, I get that Newcastle would be less incentivised to sell, but if the idea that Isak wants to play CL football would prompt him to leave, what about playing for someone who is actually good.)

Lolz, love the fact we're already pining for the summer window! 😂

Isak feels like a pipe dream. Would love it but don't see how we afford it.

Please no. Must it be transfers 24/7?
There’s football to enjoy. We’ve got possibly the two best English youngsters since Wayne Rooney. Let’s enjoy life while it happens

They did this right after the transfer window last winter too. I think they were linking us to Eze, Olise, Zubimendi, Sesko and even Mbappe. I don't remember February rumours for Calafiori and Merino.

For what it's worth, he clarified in the replies that it would be largely dependent on Newcastle missing out on Europe entirely (i.e. not just the Champions League). If the PL gets 5 CL slots and both cup winners finish in the top 5, then Newcastle would have to finish 9th or lower to miss out on Europe entirely. That really does not seem particularly plausible. They're surely closer to being the 3rd best team in the league than the 9th best team in the league.

Club trying to get on the PR front foot in a cynical attempt to cover over being on the transfer back foot.

Don Pacifico Sure, why not. I don't do twitter so don't really distinguish between these sources and which ones the club might use for shadow PR 😉

      Some conflicting stories around!

Would anyone be surprised to see us spend all summer chasing Zubimendi to the neglect of the attack lol.

Panda nope. That would also push me to Arteta/whoever the "DoF" is/Kroenkes out. Enough is enough.

Panda I think Zubimendi is as important signing as we could make. Partey and Jorginho contracts run out and both need to be moved on. Looks like we have done most of the groundwork and probably just need to agree a structure with Sociedad.

The Isak story doesn't hold up to scrutiny. If the idea is that we want him, why are we then pursuing Sesko? We aren't going to spend over 200m on two strikers, so there can't be anything in it given that we don't appear to have enquired, held talks or made a bid for Isak.

I also wonder how ambitious he is and whether he will sign a new contract, because Newcastle aren't going to start challenging like City did, because they aren't spending any money.
