Claudius and yet they were nowhere near us when we turned the heat up in the second half. Personally, I think Amorim made the first half a European game, in the second half we played a Premier League game and the gap in quality was clarified.

But I think going away to them, whenever that return is, will be tough. They do look much better than they ever did under ET.

Claudius They played good terrorist ball to be fair to them but I wasn't impressed at all. They created nothing going forward. Game was over when Timber scored and we could easily have scored 2-3 more goals with our chances from corners to Partey and Merino and Kai missing a 1v1 with Onana.

Yeah, that was an annoying United performance. He reminds me of Arteta in how he went defensive first, and if the plan is to build from the ground up, then that's the best way to approach it.

His poor clearance which handed the ball to Dalot who flashed the ball 5 inches to the other side of the post was his only mistake of the game. Zinchenko also only made one error. Could have been costly for both, but we survived. Raya to the rescue for one of those mistakes. Gabriel needs to stay fit, because Calafiori looks like he will partake in the revolving door at LB.

Interesting tidbit. Before Dubai, in his entire career Rice only took 19 corners.

Since then he has now taken over 90 corners. Jover has spotted something in his ability.

Claudius Watching Amorim's post match made me giggle too. He say he have to waste 2 entire days just training to defend corners. Then say its really difficult to find solutions for it and if he wants to win the january FA Cup tie, they cannot afford to concede corners.

The post match pundits also said its quite impossible to defend the corners because all the deliveries are so on point and sometimes we go near post sometimes far. The only way is to just accept they will concede from corners but try to out score us. 😆

I have never seen such fascination with set pieces.

RocktheCasbah I thought we kept doing the same thing because Arteta new they couldn't keep the intensity for 90 minutes. Their press was messy too but you could see what Amorim wants. I'm not sure they've all the pieces though and wouldn't be surprised if they don't give him the time to put it together.

we have a pretty winnable run of games up until we play city in early Feb. we have to go on a 10-12 game tear here.

The team I am keeping an eye on is Chelsea now. Two reasons.

they have the deepest midfield and frontline I have seen in ages.
they can rest players easily because their Euro ties are a joke. So they will be the freshest team by the end of January. We all play every 3 days until end of Jan

They’ve done well but wouldn’t be too worried. Spurs need to beat them on Sunday though.

Like us, Chelsea are on a 76 point pace. Unlike us, I don’t think they’ve underperformed to achieve that, and unlike us, don’t think they’ve got it in them to ramp up to a 95 point pace for the rest of the season to get to a decent points tally.
