I'd be amazed if he doesn't go to Man U. He'd walk into their starting 11 while he'd only be on the bench here.

DiabyKungFu they still got Rasmus and that Dutch donkey. Here he can share serious mins with Kai and also rotate on the wing. Plus would be playing in CL as opposed to EL.

Coombs I don't know how you can say that when a 60m signing would literally be our 5th most expensive signing of all time. While I agree that looking at our financial positioning and the trajectory of our team (with associated performance based windfalls incoming), we should be able to spend that type of money pretty easily, we don't usually. I have a hard time believing we would sanction a 60m signing this January and then be just as free on spending in the summer as if we didn't. I wish that weren't the case, and hopefully it won't be moving forward, but I can only base it on what we have done to date.

For everyone that is saying we need to sign someone NOW, who is it that you want us to sign? Tel for 60m? I love his potential but you're paying for his development into that player up front and that's a very risky gamble. He also likely wouldn't have a huge impact this season anyways other than being another body.

Who are these other strikers or attackers that we realistically could get right now?

Also as an aside, I do still think that Watkins may move this window with the amount of links that Villa has to Felix, Rashford, Asencio. Everything that has been written about them states they are going to be up against it with PSR even with the Duran sale so someone else will likely need to go if they intend to move forward with any of those deals. I could see Watkins moving towards the end of the weekend if they get progress on those deals. Watkins for 60m would be something I could get behind, although I do think that would mean no Isak/Sesko in the summer.

        Ok. Fun times.
We only have a couple of days to go. Who could we realistically sign that would make you content with this window?

I've started to make peace with the idea we ain't getting anyone. Obviously, not telling anyone else what to do, but maybe we should start sharing coping strategies.

naz seal the isak deal for the summer. 120m, locked in and ready to go for preseason. not sure it fits the 'realistic' criteria, but that's pretty much the only thing that would please me at this point

            Another one bites the dust

Looks like it’s Watkins or bust.

Rashford on a straight loan might be better than no-one to be honest. We just need a body.

He is still a name and he will still make opposition managers think and you would hope he has a massive point to prove so the motivation should be there. Also got a good CL goal scoring record.

samthegooner but that's just it, our historical spending is a problem. People act like we've spent so much money, but we really haven't at all. Fuck ups like Pepe happen to every big club, but when Arsenal make one little mistake, we can never sign a winger ever again. It's all a lie. We can spend, we just don't. We can afford to make mistakes, we can afford to take chances, but we don't. It's a lack of ambition.

The fact that 60m sounds expensive to us is part of the problem. If Mbeumo goes to Newcastle and we get nobody, then we've officially chucked it. They already have my Isak for fuck's sake!

Coombs disagree. we seem to have memory holed the significant write-off and subsequent spending program the kroenkes signed off on. in phase 1 we paid alot of guys to fuck off, some of which was very costly in the form of pepe, aubameyang and ozil.
id argue our main problem isnt a lack of ambitious spending, its a lack of efficient spending. the kroenkes have done their bit. if they're deciding to tighten up and demand a bit more bang for their buck, Id be reticent about to throw stones at them about that decision. people might argue they're pulling up stumps when we're right on the cusp of winning, but on the flipside you can argue that they've put in more than enough to turn around say 'we've acquiesced to everything youve asked for over 4 years - now go out and make it happen'

                    Sicario2 - Tier 1

fab and orny playing different tunes this window. this makes it sounds like he's knocked spurs back in the hope someone else will come in. if we showed serious interest I'm sure it's a deal we could do, but he may not be a high priority target for us

                    Gazza M

I’m sure we will get some BS PR in the next few days when we don’t sign anyone like this time last year:

Sicario2 - Tier 1 problem is if you choose to view player transfers as a shopping dash at Louis Vuitton, then it’s easy to be cynical and the club’s ambition and intent.
I fully understood what Arteta said when he said there are 3 parties and they all need to be aligned. And the stuff you really want usually takes time. See how drawn out it’s been to get Raya, Zubimendi, Ode, Rice and others. They all eventually got here after a very drawn out courtship process. It’s not just about what Arsenal want. If all 3 parties don’t love the deal in that moment, you’re fucked.

It’s easy for someone to like the Marmoush deal despite @jones saying he’s going nowhere. City desperately need a forward after failed signings and Alvarez sale. They gave a barely proven player a £14.5m salary. And they gave the team £60m.

Christ on a bike, why is the window staying open till Monday evening? Friday night would've been perfectly sensible.

Do it. Bin off Neto to free up that loan spot for Ferguson

Burnwinter I suspect they accounted for this insanely long champions league and europa league program. Usually these competitions are done by December. Remember, participants can register up to 3 new players for knockouts.

lorddulaarsenal please no. I don’t want 6 months of false arguments about how signing Garcia got in the way of a striker.

Claudius He needs to sign the GK and a defender this window, just to send a message to the Arsenal fans that he'll get what he wants not what they want 😉

We should keep an eye out for the best young players at United and Chelsea. Do the same to them where we legitimately feel someone can be part of the team.

Rashford to Villa on loan might conceivably keep our Watkins bid alive ... ?

Saw a thing saying that with Merino's signing and Raya's (delayed) transfer, we've already had two of the top five deals by size for players over 28 in world football since the end of season 23–24. Might as well increase that to three of the top five eh?

Burnwinter we have a young team. We are about to lose a few more vets end of the year(Jorginho, Partey, maybe Trossard/jesus), and we have fully integrated two talented teenagers.
So we have room for a vet

Claudius Watkins just turned 29 and 4 years ago was playing in the championship. He’s hardly a vet.

Rashford to Villa could work in our favour
