samthegooner I mean financial room. If the Kroenke's are arbitrarily limiting spend in a way that doesn't align with our actual finances, we're pretty screwed anyway.

Claudius what's probably most attractive to me is his dynamism. a re-occuring theme of the dark side of tetball is a lack of dynamism. at the very least cunha is all action, and will roam and naturally provide 3rd man linkup options via his busy-body style. if we get him he'll be a 'lift all boats' synergy boosting type geezer. and importantly he's in form and ready to go. I have niggling doubts about the longterm wisdom of this signing, for similar reasons Sam as alluded to, but I'm probably sitting at 60/40 for it at the moment.

Coombs yeah I saw something recently from someone - can't remember who sorry - that seemed reputable - maybe Swiss Ramble? - that suggested we had over 150m pounds worth of room under current PSR rules.

Coombs I mean in an ideal world, I’d love to have Cunha plus a starter level winger (Gittens/Semenyo/Barcola/Nico) and CF (Isak/Sesko/Gyokeres).

If you told me tomorrow that we’d bring in Cunha, Semenyo, Sesko and Zubimendi by the start of next season (as a more realistic example IMO), I’d be quite pleased. So as long as signing him doesn’t jeopardize the others, I’m down.

It's not perfect, but it's a consequence of not spending in the summer when it was obvious that our forward line was short.

Man Utd looking to sell off their best young assets now…..

Am guessing there might be some other issues, have seen suggestions he’s been leaking stuff out and has a bit of an ego on him.

TambourineMan 22/23 Jesus best ever season was league 14 goals. And that was 5 years ago playing for Man City. Cunha is currently on 10 with the rest of the season still to come and he's playing for Wolves. I think he's better than Jesus full stop.

JazzG United doing the opposite of what a sensible person would do. They’re 12th. I would get rid of that rat faced poison called Bruno. I’m amazed how united ownership and fans are beholden to this guy.

samthegooner I still think the logic of “player X is better than signing no one” is completely ignoring the opportunity cost down the line if we then have more limited funds this summer.

We heard this all last summer and we ended up short and its going to cost us a title. We've actually been hearing it for a couple of years now and yet this better forward never appears. Its been 5 years and we haven't signed this world class forward you want us to hold out for. The forwards we've signed are Havertz, Jesus and Trossard. Cunha isn't some back up to these guys or some stap gap. He's genuinely an excellent player with the potential to step up even more in a better team. This is the sort of signing we need to make. He's in the sort of position Sadio Mane was before joining Liverpool. We aren't going to buy Vinicius Jr or Isak, we can't keep waiting around for someone who has already proven they are a 20 goal a season man because we aren't going to get those players.

Claudius if United got rid of Bruno right now I'd genuinely have them as relegation candidates. The fans love him because he carries them so often.

Qwiss i think he's far and away their best players, but there is enough talent there for that shit show to bob around midtable without him. sell him to Chelsea for 100m pounds and get some defenders or strikers that make sense

I'm honestly surprised how many United fans are up in arms about selling Garnacho for the fees they've discussed, but admittedly I really don't rate him. 70m for him and I would drive him to Napoli/Chelsea if I were a United fan (gross). Personally, I'm hoping Chelsea go for him to take them out of the Gittens chase. Although I have yet to see any links to Gittens for us, which is unfortunate.

Qwiss It's a good point. I'm an optimist and while I'm not holding out for Isak, I would like to ensure we can still bring in a winger and striker this summer, along with Zubimendi. Hopefully, with what Swiss Ramble has shown to be our ample headroom with PSR, KSE will invest in kind because I think a combo of Cunha, a winger, striker and Zubimendi would be a great couple of windows before next season. Add in someone like Hato if we move on from Zinchenko and/or Tomiyasu and then we are close to ideal IMO.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert I believe he came up as a CB but I think he's been mostly playing LB this year. Honestly, I'm not sure how well he would cover as CB- would have to defer to someone who has seen him play more recently but I've loved what I've seen from him at LB this year.

If we keep Kiwior and ideally have White and Timber healthy, we should have decent cover at CB next year. I'm not even going to count on Tomiyasu since he's just hurt all the time. Also let's not forget that Calafiori plays CB too so between Kiwior, Calafiori, White and Timber we have a lot of cover at CB- its just that right now 2 of them are hurt and the other is our starting RB. We will never be able to adequately cover Saliba and Gabriel's quality since they are just too good of a partnership but if our injury luck improves just slightly next year, I think we should have the 4 defensive positions well covered by good, PL quality defenders.

Sicario2 - Tier 1 Just get it done. I am a Sesko believer. He definitely needs development and isn't a ready made article but his production this early in his career is elite, especially his conversion rate. We need more players that can just thunder the ball home at any moment and unlike someone like Haaland (clearly a better finisher and killer), he can actually play football and not look like a baby giraffe if he has to take more than 1-2 touches. There's risk of course but everyone has mentioned how we didn't take the chance with Isak when he came to Newcastle despite the concerns over his production and finishing - this is that chance we need to take.

I don't think signing him now would make a difference in the title race this year but not having to chase a CF this summer and moving forward would be such a breath of fresh air and allow us to address the remaining gaps in our attack. I still think he needs to be more aggressive and selfish - he needs to shoot more and also develop his body to be able to be stronger in the PL but he's 21 and I'm confident we can get him there.

Both our wish listed strikers scored in the same game. Sesko and Gyokeres.

Sicario2 - Tier 1 Who is this guy? Some random grifter or reliable?

Just get this done, if at all possible. This team is dying for someone that can just hammer the ball towards the goal with either foot.

                est
He’s reliable to be fair. Gets team news ahead of time.

Don’t know if this is ‘negotiating tactics’ or the truth but :

I’d be shocked if Sesko moved based on what he, DoF and manager have all said

Our net spend was just above £20m last summer. We definitely have money to spend.

I probably favour sesko a bit more because he seems to be a longterm target for us, so there upside into the future. cunha is going to have more of an immediate impact but I can't shake the feeling we might regret signing him in 18-24 months

I wonder if Sesko is going to be the game changer people think. I saw some tweets from people who watched him the other day and while he scored a good goal they said he looked a bit raw and did give the ball away cheaply as well. He sounds more like a project rather than someone who we will sign and score 15 goals and lead us to the title. He is only 21 so for his age he definitely looks a top prospect. I trust the clubs judgement though on this and I think for us it isn't even just quality we need, we are desperately short on numbers as well.

Someone like Cunha or even someone like Mbeumu I think possibly have more of an immediate impact, they are both familiar with the league and settled into the country. Again I am just throwing names out because we don't know if they are available.

JazzG buying Sesko is like buying Hojlund or Zikrkzee. Fortunately, we have Havertz who is doing a good job at CF. For now, I would expect Sesko to come in and replace Havertz in a few games either from the start or at the 60th minute. Havertz has looked completely spent in a lot of matches - he's already racked up 2500 minutes in January, which is an incredible number.
I don't expect Sesko to unseat Havertz. But I'm a big believer in having gears in attack. Being able to bring a fresh player on in the 60th minute. Even Nwaneri statistically pumped out more than Sterling yesterday in half the time on the field. (but then again...)

Tierney is still a very good player. Much better than Zinchenko for example.

JazzG I agree that he wouldn’t have as big an impact on this season as someone like Cunha or Mbeumo. I would be interested in getting him in this month only because: 1) we need bodies in attack pure and simple and while he is raw, he’d still be able to help us with numbers and putting away a few chances. I’d rather see him work through his development than see Sterling putter around the pitch personally. 2) he’s part of our long term plan and getting him training with the team and Arteta will only benefit his development and adjustment for next season.

I’ve said before that I am opposed to short term half measures since I think they set back team building and we need to be nailing our attacking team building over the next two windows. But if a profile like Cunha or Mbeumo is part of that long term attacking vision, as I’m starting the come around on, we should definitely try to bring one of them in this forward since it would help us immensely in this run in before and after Saka returns without sacrificing our long term plans.

If Leipzig plays hard ball, I’m fine with us respecting those wishes and waiting until the summer. But if they have a somewhat reasonable position to let him go this month, we should pounce. And if we have the chance to get Cunha/Mbeumo this window, I have come around to the opinion we should just get it done. Long story short, a window with just Sesko likely won’t have a great short term impact this season but a window with Cunha/Mbeumo likely will.

est he's barely used. what he shown historically is a bit of usage always leads to a breakdown

                      • est replied to this.

Claudius Just like all our other LBs. Good thing we spent a ton on just as injury-prone players to replace him and now find ourselves in a position when he's still the only one available.

He's just another one to add to the list of good players Arteta refuses to use for some personal preference. A real chink in his managerial armour. Doesn't get the most out of his squad because of his rigidity. Wouldn't be an issue if he got the players he wanted and the level or football went up noticeably, alas we're still playing poor unimaginative football even with the expensive replacements.

est I doubt there is anything particularly unusual about Arteta’s squad usage. I’ll run some numbers later, but I would be surprised if Arteta is an outlier on squad utilisation.

If we don’t sign anyone by Jan 31st I will be very pissed. How can you show such a lack of ambition when even if the league looks done we can go far in the CL?

est He's just another one to add to the list of good players Arteta refuses to use for some personal preference.

                            But he is using him...

Claudius But I'm a big believer in having gears in attack. Being able to bring a fresh player on in the 60th minute.

Its hugely important. There is a reason most managers first changes in games are for attackers. Its been hugely limiting for us not being able to make those changes. Its also running Havertz into the ground which inevitably limits his sharpness. We need people who can change the game from the bench both stylistically and with their energy. Just look at Trossard last season as a perfect example.

est nice that he got a few run outs lately to remind us all he actually is quite good. Shame about all the injuries.

Chelsea going to make a formal bid for Garnacho. They just really love collecting decent to mediocre wingers (Estevao excluded) don't they? Personally, I don't rate Garnacho and so I would be glad if they did this and took themselves out of a potential Gittens race this summer.

Coombs Nah he wanted rid from the moment he arrived. Sent him on loan and only recalled and played him when all the youth team players were injured and he had no other choice.

[przegladsportowy] Italian club Atalanta are interested in signing Kiwior from Arsenal. Atlanta are seriously considering signing the youngster in the winter market. At the moment, Arsenal officials have a clear plan to keep the player until the end of this season
