RocktheCasbah he was a huge improvement when he came on. Rice is in a funk. Has he had this toe injury for a while because his forms terrible. Hopefully the rest over the break can allow Rice get fixed and Merino more time with the team to acclimatise.

banduan snarky comment? We drew 1-1 away to the third placed team. We have our captain back and he fashioned the most beautiful assist for Martinelli. We had a few good attacking moves second half from different angles. What’s so snarky about that? I see baby steps.

Its really frustrating because we are quite negative and yet we aren't defending well. We've put our focus at the back and we can't even do a good job of that.

Qwiss yeah Arteta tactically is a defensive cautious coach and everything he does is about that first. It's why we don't really go for attacking quality but look for hardworking players and then if they can still attack good on them but Arteta is not actively looking for attacking quality. Saka is exceptional because despite what he's asked to do going back he can still get forwards but we are just lucky we had a player like that.

As you say with all the focus on the defensive side we still don't look great at the back and the team is playing with a nick a goal and try to hold out approach except more often this season we need more then that.

Our defence was solid when we were suffocating teams with our press, keeping teams pegged in their own half while Gabriel and Saliba cleaned up everything that broke loose.

We aren't pressing or playing like that at the moment, so our defence is being attacked in various different phases (mid and low blocks) which wasn't where the defence was known to be solid.
