Burnwinter I'm sure quadrupling his salary had an influence too.
Edu is leaving

Arsenal’s acting sporting director Jason Ayto has growing internal support to take on the role permanently. The club’s ownership has said to be impressed with his work and is viewed as a genuine contender for the vacancy.(@SamiMokbel81_DM)

Mail, football london etc they are all running with story so I assume it will be official soon enough. So he was a scout here, then the chief scout then a Dwight like role for Arteta - Executive assistant of the manager. Now it looks like he will be sporting director
HomeSteak The Guardian were pitching Rosicky as the front-runner earlier this week so feels like there's some way to go before it's all resolved.
Don Pacifico has Rosicky any experience in a similar role? Seems to make more sense to promote Ayto.
Qwiss been doing it at Sparta Prague for a while and credited with helping get them back to winning the Czech league and into the CL.
Andrea Berta aka the Godfather remember the name.
Sicario2 - Tier 1 Andrea Berta aka the Godfather remember the name.
Isn't he the guy that keeps signing Morata for Atletico? And fortunately for us, succeeded where we failed in bringing in Lemar for big bucks. With Joao Felix, at least it shows he brings in forward players, so that's something.
Meets my criteria: highly experienced at the top level of the game, touch of class, and he doesn't look like he'd be overawed by Arteta's current influence at Arsenal.
Burnwinter does he meet e foggin standards?
Burnwinter If you can deal with Simeone you can deal with Mikel.
Qwiss Spot on.
It's important we've got multiple strong, experienced and respectable characters in the decision-making process so there's adequate scrutiny and every fee and contract has its agreed rationale.
Arteta should never be taking all the heat on our signings, not even if they're his picks.

Burnwinter yup. And we also need to have a hierarchy in place that can work without Arteta. Next season could be pivotal, if we win a big trophy he could be poached, if we fall to pieces he made need to be replaced. The most probable situation is he stays but we can't be caught out if he doesn't.
Exciting appointment. Has an eye for a striker that’s for sure
Would love this appointment. Looks like he can hang in big negotiations while also having an eye for good deals and market opportunities. He also definitely knew how to work with Simeone to identify players who would fit his play style. Need to get him in soon so he can start working on this summer ASAP.

Qwiss have to get rid of Stan too if we want to be totally purified. It is Ramadan after all.
Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert be careful what you wish for. Might just as easily get a Boehly or whatever consortium sold Everton recently.
Don Pacifico yes, definitely could be worse.
United, Everton, Chelsea, West Ham.
Chaos. Don’t want that kind of ownership
Yup. Our massa be good to us!

News today that they are pushing prices up again. A lot of price rises since KSE came in, not a lot of silverware.
Excellent appointment
Meh. Not impressed. Hopefully he makes me look stupid.
From what I understand he takes no shit and is not a yes man. Exactly what we need and someone to challenge Arteta.
Welcome Senior Berta. Now let’s fucking win some silverware #makeArsenalgreatagain
Yeah, I love that he seems like he has his own voice and a strong personality. You need that back and forth in organizations.
How are we making these conclusions/assumptions about Berta? Any links to a decent bio?
Seems like an excellent appointment on the superficial basis we've got to think about it. Better still if he can get his hooks into any of our high profile wishlist.
Everyone has the inside scoop except us.
Burnwinter this guy signed Rodri for peanuts. And his signings include Cunha, Giminez, Oblak, Griezmann etc. some of his bigger signings were led more by the club president who has a big role in contests, eg Felix and Alvarez. So he shouldn’t take full credit for those.
His origins are in scouting. Given that we have a strong analytics team in maces should be a good marriage of both approaches
Here's the Scott Willis take on our man Berta:

Some quite good spots there. Admittedly the way he writes it up is pretty much "every Berta Atleti transfer end to end as a stream of consciousness", could've used some editorial supervision on this one.
There’s an Arsenal Vision podcast with a long time Atletico Madrid supporter who runs the number one English speaking AM website.
Seems this Arsenal move is actually a bit of a step up for Berta. From my impression, he was almost a glorified scout identifying players but the closing of the deal was done by Gill Marin which is a bit of red flag…
He did unearth some gems like Rodri and Cunha though.
Does he know what a centre forward and goal are?
invisibleman18 look at players I listed.
