Barcelona, PSG and Inter are beatable. If we had Gabriel I'd be beyond confident in winning the CL but I'm cautiously optimistic right now

I just can’t square our CL and league performances. I get the view that players are likely holding back in the league games and their focus isn’t entirely there, but that in itself worries me about the CL games. That complacency could easily creep in and before you know it you’re down a few and chasing the tie. I wouldn’t bet we could win from behind in the CL.

Tam that’s part of it.
The other part is we don’t have Jesus, Havertz, Jorginho, Gabriel right now. And we’ve had various injury issues with Merino, White, Saka, Ode, Martinelli etc on top of that. so it means we aren’t able to rotate players properly and we basically need to prioritise our best resources and efforts for specific games. Would really help right now to have even just Gabriel and Havertz.

Tam I was thinking a bit about this but I also feel in the knock out we've not had a team that's really tested us. PSV played way too open and perfectly into our hands and for all the trepidation I had about Real based on the individual quality they would have, I don't think I saw anything really in the 2 legs that's was high quality from them. So I think we've had the motivation and the opponents maybe not really been all that over the ties we've played.

I think there is a potential we get tested a bit harder as PSG and Barca at the moment are probably 2 of the form teams at least going forwards so might see a bit more what we are about.

That's true for every team, the question is what is the best prep to deliver in a big game at this stage of the season. Is it time off which helps with reducing fatigue, but nothing else, or is it playing games, sharpening combinations, improving form and confidence. Some of our players could seriously do with that latter.

awooga83 I think we’ve also been really well prepared for these games. We took advantage of Real’s midfield weaknesses in a way that Barca did not yesterday. We just ran through their centre, often taking great risk. And you saw versus Barca that Mbappe and Vini can easily generate chaos. None of that against us. We really outplayed these guys and should not underplay that

Claudius I totally acknowledge that you can only beat what's in front of you. I just meant I haven't been impressed with PSV or Real and certainly the latter was struggling throughout the Champions League. I just think PSG and Barca based on form look better teams at the moment then Real based on what we saw so have the potential to be a bigger challenge.

For all we looked good we needed world class moments from Rice which pretty much changed the game and the momentum in the home leg which made the away a different story to say the Bayern one last year.

Sicario2 fuck Inter. And that's coming from someone who used to like them when they had R9. No treble for them this time since they lost the Copa Italia to Milan and hopefully Barca stuff them. We struggle against defensive teams.

Eugh can't believe I actually kind of want a Barca win because at least they're defemsively suspect. And on that point fuck Barca as well. Why can't we have them both lose and the final be our games against PSG?

Big Willie playing this Inter is prob easier than Barca IF we got to the final. Inter are on their last legs and have the oldest squad in Europe.

Barca, whilst looking a little suspect defensively, look formidable in attack. Think it will be the harder game despite being the better match up with them v Inter.

Yeah, i dont see Inter holding on to this one. Its pretty much been one way traffic since that goal. They do go down QUITE easily though.
