That little spell after half time had PSG rocking, Villa were very close to levelling the tie then. Once they weathered that storm I think Villa ran out of steam but they gave it a good shot to be fair to them.

In these games once momentum shifts anything can happen so important to keep your defensive shape tight and disciplined. Villa yesterday in the first half looked way too open which allowed PSG to get two quick goals.

Villa looked really good in that spell as well. Attractive, open, fast-paced, direct and silky football at times. If they had managed to pull off the unthinkable, they'd have done it in some style.

I didn't see anything in PSG which would overly worry me if(!) we face them though.

PSG, Real, and Barcelona all seem pretty similar to me in that they thrive in wide open, transition based game states and can run you off the pitch pretty quickly if you allow that type of play to dominate the match. However, slow them down and take more control to force them to play off the ball more and they show some real weakness defensively (Barca less so than Madrid and PSG). PSG had a handful of passes just in the first half where they gave the ball up close to their own box when Villa pressed and they just couldn't take advantage of most of them. I don't want to jinx us today as I still think anything can happen but if we get past Madrid, I like our chances against PSG as long as we have our healthy first choice fullbacks to match up against their wingers.

samthegooner after yesterday I’m less impressed by PSG as well. They have a stupefying attack. So fast and direct with multiple two-footed players who will really hurt you one-on-one. But what was evident was even when they should’ve shut down the game, they succumbed to a yo-yo rhythm that constantly had them in danger of conceding. That was naive by the players (and manager). We know how to really slow down a game and focus on the margins. If they can’t stay focused, we will turn them

Claudius We would have a big physical advantage against them, especially in the midfield. They are a highly technical and beautiful team to watch when they are flying but we saw what happened to them earlier in the year when we slowed things down and methodically controlled the first 45 minutes. Granted, that was a much different team at that time but I haven't seen much to change my mind that if you can negate as much of the high octane transitional play against them, you can stifle their attacking potency. It's a shame that Gabriel and Havertz are out because we gave them so much trouble on corners and set pieces in the first game and I expect that to continue if we are to advance.

PSG is a much better prospect than Villa. It’s all about match up’s at this stage.

Enrique got a dilema of whether to play most of his players in the league games running up to the semi’s or rest them. They could be out of sync if he rests too much. It’s a very fine balance. Playing every 3 days without thinking (and winning) is not the worst scenario from a momentum perspective.

I was there in home tie earlier this season v PSG and they couldn’t score in a month of Sunday’s. I know they have improved since then but had their number that game, this will be in the Parisians head come the semi final. Two biggest teams going head to head that have never won the CL. They will face immense, immense pressure.

Enrique v Arteta. The latter used to watch the former when he was a kid at the Nou Camp.

Crazy to think one more big result in two weeks could have us almost touching the Champions League final for the first time in just shy of two decades. I remember the last one too well.

To be fair, There is only PSG, Inter and Barca left. Any of those would be considered glamour ties. Inter are not exactly lightweights.

Though, to be honest, I think we would struggle a lot with that Inter team. (as has already been shown)
