Salah always does this at the tail end of a season though, that's why we had such high hopes earlier on.

He wouldn't booed if he went abroad in 3-4 years having won us a couple of titles and a CL. Quite the opposite.

They haven't been under pressure since late February since the league was effectively over when we lost against West Ham. If anything the lack of mental drain from being hunted down has allowed them to collect more points than they should have.

Dom I don't really buy that. I think the reason City got so many points during the end of last season was because they needed to.

I don't have numbers to back it up, but I'd bet that if you looked at various teams that have won the league early, their PPG more often than not goes down after they've won it.

Yeah I’m with group not trying. Even against us they weren’t really going at full tilt, and they still went two goals up in the first half.

I’m not really a fan of the what ifs and retrospectives. They won the league. At a trot. Hats off to them, we go again next year. This obsession will kill Arteta before it kills me.

Liverpool are a mid 80 points team. That's what they got, its not easy to get that many points, fair play to them.

Qwiss Agreed, after last season we should have pushed ourselves to a 90+ point team but a bad transfer window and injuries have put us back. Going to have to make up for it this window.

QuincyAbeyie Salah goes to shit (relatively) every season after January. We'll never know for sure but I don't think Liverpool would have been able to push over the 90 mark if we had kept our level up to where it was last season.

QuincyAbeyie 2018 and 2020, City and Pool won the league by about 18 points and went to 100 and 99 points respectively. Both kept pushing and were indomitable those years. Pool are very good. But not a great team

Claudius Liverpool's 19/20 season is an example of what I'm talking about. Their PPG decreased. Dom's argument was that PPG increases when they've already won it.

They won the league that season with 99 points and finished almost 20 points ahead of City. In the last ten years or so there have been a few examples of teams having sown up the league early and yet still finishing with a 90+ points season.

I'm not really making much of a point besides I don't rate this Liverpool team at all and I'm bitter Arsenal didn't test their bottle.

Pepe LeFrits Pep can't do it without the best squad. He had that at Barca, he had it Bayern and until now he's had it at City.

They’re good. But why wouldn’t they be? They’ve kept the best players who got them to those 99 point seasons. Superstars are important particularly in a context like Premier League where teams as a baseline all have high quality players. So I’m not surprised by Pool. Nor am I blown away by them.
Timing is important as well. If they get this season last year, they still finish 2nd or 3rd. If we got our season from last year this year, we win the league. What we need to do this summer is reduce the potential for adverse variables next year

They more or less did. They'd 82 points last season and are sitting on 83 with a game to go now.

Timing has worked for them but I think on our end we stood still. Obviously injuries have hurt us but we put ourselves in a position where we were over reliant on a couple of players, Saka in particular. We didn't improve last summer and its cost us.

I'm not talking about total points, only that I don't think form generally improves when the title is wrapped up.
