I'll be terribly disappointed if someone like Eze is the quality of player we are targeting. It's not 2019 anymore. We've moved up levels and our business in the market should reflect that.

Gazza M I can get on board with that. Someone like Xavi Simons fits the bill as he has many of the qualities I'd be looking for in the 8, and is 5 years younger. My main point though is that the 8 is a position we need to figure out in this window. Bringing in the right player for the position could have a strong positive multiplier effect on our goal scoring/creativity/chance creation and overall team balance.

flobaba I like Simons more because theres plenty of upside there, he fits artetas ethos and brings a gew ingredients were missing. a similar loan with a view to buy, like we did with odegaard, would leave alot of free capital while still netting us a very good player. if we're getting someone in their mid 20s that takes a chink of the budget, it needs to be as impactful as rice for example

Man some really low opinions of Eze on here, I think he's a really good player, last season had 11 goals and 6 assists in like 30 games, not bad playing for Palace. Wouldn't be my first choice but defo someone to consider if we can move a player in their direction imo.

JazzG I’m with you. He’s not my absolute first choice but I’ll be quite happy if we have Eze next year.

mdgoonah41 feels like he's been 24 for the last 5 years, but that somewhat speaks to the fact he stalled a bit in his late 20s. still a good player, but bayern aren't exactly clamouring to keep him

Would be a great signing for me. Have been wishlisting him for many years now here - I genuinely prefer him over Zubimendi (age apart). A little older than ideal but it’s ok given the overall profile of our squad.

Qwiss By the looks of it Plan A is an elite midfielder plus forward reinforcements, and Plan B is a dynamic forward, hang onto Partey and get in a bloke like this to cover the 50% of the season Partey is offline. Then there's the open question of left back.

Seemed more dynamic than Zubimendi in the way he gets around the pitch. I like that he's very much a midfielder rather than an attacker playing in midfield.
