Rotation is part of it.
I had a quick look at where we've dropped points.
Fulham at home during Arteta's Partey at right back era. Not rotation related but was that approach serious enough then?
Spurs at home. Derby day is unpredictable but we threw away a lead twice.
Chelsea away. Salvaged a late draw against a poor team.
An Odegaardless loss to Newcastle.
33 points into the season and we dropped 9 of them in the above games. Too many considering the calibre of opponent so early in the season.
Then the issue of rotation does kick in where we next drop points.
The loss to Villa was the third game in a week with minimal rotation, with the heavy going Luton game being midweek. Potentially argument for rotation providing a better outcome here in either the Luton or Villa games. A 4-3 draining win against Luton is far from optimal.
Good draw at Anfield followed by a loss at home to West Ham then away to Fulham in the Christmas fixtures. Very minimal rotation in a busy Christmas period, and very poor to drop points after a great result against Liverpool.
What also jumped out is how few clean sheets we keep at home. For all the talk recently of how strong defensively we are, we have only kept 4clean sheets in 14 home games. Contrast that with the talk this week about how hard it is to score against City at home, Luckily that has only cost us in the Spurs and Fulham games but we're giving away silly goals too easily and too frequently. The away record is much better with 8clean sheets from 15 games.
