Bryant Kamala didn't really give a strong answer as how to she would differ from Biden.

Hillary, Biden, Harris, these people are all creatures of the DNC and the establishment, whatever else you make of them. I continue to think a chunk of Trump's appeal is, despite his own corruption and cronyism, he looks more likely to cause upheaval in a rotten system of elite domination.

I reckon any upheaval likely to be due to Trump will be bad, but he carries the anti-political sentiment. For instance, despite the fact when in office Trump moved the US embassy to Jerusalem, he still seems able to attract a chunk of pro-Palestinian votes. There's no real logic to that beyond the undeniable truth that Harris represents yet more of the Democrat, MIC and agency status quo.

Burnwinter I can't even begin to imagine. well I can, but still. its very grim. feels like the oligarchy is making the final push to strip the public purse and weaken democracy. it's been trending that way for decades, what with corporate interests swallowing up both parties, but this feels like the start of the next phase of that trend.

I've been at a tech conference with a bunch of (Pacific northwest living, blue voting) US citizens to talk to today. As the results come in they're all increasingly and palpably ashamed and embarrassed, set back a long way, checking their phones and having hushed conversations with people back home. If it weren't consequential in shitty ways for a lot of people, it could be a pretty comical spectacle.

Don't get me wrong, I don't categorically dislike this kind of person because I'd be a hypocrite if I did ... it's just the mentality they project is frustrating if you're not living in the same bubble. Food for thought for people like me.

If I tried looking for a silver lining I'd say while Trump hangs of Netanyahu's dick there's a chance they fall out because of American domestic issues or any other reason as Trump is clearly unhinged. With Harris you know it's 100% backing for Israel. She couldn't even in theory discuss Israeli war crimes for longer than ten seconds before pivoting to grocery prices ffs

This is it, Trump is a horrifying prospect but there's an outside chance of the state of affairs getting turned over, and that's gotta be what appeals to some.

Democrats have had 8 years to muster any sort of mass political energy since Trump last won, and instead they've been doing their best to institutionally discipline and extinguish any trace of that.

The so-called centre is bereft of both ideas and convictions.

Privatisation of monopoly public goods is inefficient. "Tax relief" in the form of income bracket flattening is regressive redistribution that increases inequality. Non-cooked economists agree social payments, education funding and infrastructure spending are damagingly low in most post-industrial economies. But in politics, anyone who says such things is labelled an extremist by the idiot centre.

Will it eventually be time for the centre to wise up? No wonder it keeps getting beat.

Gurgen Europe's had longer lived variations of social democracy but Europe has also suffered from pasokification for decades. And for the most part the response from the left (parties only now known as the "centre" in half these countries) has been to double down on managerialism and sensible-ism.

It hasn't worked well and it'd be great for Europe if the centre realised it needs to pick a side at some stage.

Mirth we've seen the film before - when Trump was president Europe moaned and bitched and followed orders, when it was Biden or Obama they wagged their tail and followed orders.

From a highly cynical perspective discontent in the ranks is probably best for the rest of the planet. If Trump is offensive enough even Europe might learn to emancipate itself at some point
