I read that this isn't actually anything new and what Canada had already been indicating they were going to do.

The Canadian government has already committed $1.3 billion to bolster the border, including surveillance towers, dozens of drones and two Black Hawk helicopters the RCMP has leased. In December it promised to strengthen 24/7 surveillance of the border to curb the flow of illegal fentanyl and irregular migration south and set up a new joint "strike force" to go after organized crime.
Also from the Mexico deal "Mexico had agreed to send 10,000 members of its national guard “to prevent drug trafficking from Mexico to the US, in particular of fentanyl”, Sheinbaum said. In return, the US had agreed to work to prevent high-powered weapons crossing the border into Mexico"
Although I'm sure trump not shouting about his own comprises no doubt and getting these *deals" which are worthless smoke and mirrors in the scheme of things. Nobody is going to believe him on the tariff stuff going forwards based on these. He's done nothing really but will claim victory even though its pretty much the status quo.
