jones yep, there's a narrative going around saying that Harris ran a technically sound campaign with no gaffs. Not sure combining the establishment Democrats with the establishment Republicans was the vote winner they thought it would be. Step 1 of any post mortem should be acknowledging that the swamp exists, they are a part of it and it needs to be drained.

interesting phenomena in swing state senate races. almost all swing state republicans running behind trump. he just seems to be a singular electoral force at the top of the ticket, but doesnt necessarily translate downballot. or biden/harris was just heavily repudiated. gives dems some small comfort at 2026 midterms. trump is legit the republicans Obama. lol.

Mirth it’s happening in developing countries as well. In Botswana the Democratic Party ran the country for 58 years straight and had a stranglehold on parliament. They went from 38 to 4 seats, as the UDC took 38 seats, and the Congress became the official opposition. This was last week. We saw a similar massacre of the ANC in South Africa which is now ruling via coalitions.

It’s a post covid economy. The incumbents everywhere had a really bad lot. And they just have to own it because especially in America, presidents always lie about how they are responsible for economic conditions during their own term.

I don't even know where to begin but first two thoughts

they're openly meming the government. i've never seen this anywhere, just further cheapening institutions
as much as American rants and raves about Russia, these guys have bested the Russians at oligarchy. The richest man in the world whose companies have all been built off government contracts and subsidies went on the campaign trail with the eventual president. and now he's advising the government, while he has cases and charges for improper market conduct and after he has interfered in foreign policy with his satellite company.

Claudius another way of looking at it is he's foisted elon and vivek into a made up position to keep the base conned into thinking there's still some populist revolution happening. elon and vivek will revel in the attention on X, and keep the maga natives distracted. elon will probably reward himself with some crony benefits for his companies but wont devote much real time to it. the real damage will be done elsewhere.

This is an odd thing to say. The US has caused carnage around the world during Biden and Harris's reign and is currently involved in an extermination of a native population by a colonial entity. The US state department has engineered a genocide and a famine in Gaza.

As the stats have shown, Trump didn't gain significant number of votes from the anti-war crowd. The democrats' vote collapsed among several demographics, one of them being people disgusted at what Biden's mob have orchestrated.

Trump is a sick piece of shit but the "hawk" guy he's just appointed has zero experience in politics, got seven kids with three women and the only other thing I learned about him in 20 seconds google search is he accidentally threw an axe at some guy on his TV show.

He'll be canned within six months and probably won't cause as much damage as career politicians like Blinken or whoever Harris would've appointed (she probably would've picked Liz Cheney if she could) in their calculated and methodical evil

Gazza M also, i have never heard of cost saving by creating a whole new department called cost saving and efficiency. the idea of improving anything with a cost saving approach as well is also bizarre - people need broad based economic empowerment. you can make that efficient in its rollout. but you don't go off and cut the coffee budget. i do this for a living. it's hilarious.

Dom im not absolving democrats of their actions. they marketed the cheneys as part of their campaign for goodness sake. I'm saying it goes against one of the main narratives that trump is the anti-war choice. and its not just fox news guy im referring to. he's appointing Marco rubio as secretary of state and Elise Stefanik as UN ambassador, both of whom have a hawkish history regarding the Gaza and ukraine conflicts, and the withdrawal from afghanistan. in any case, as you say, it will be a revolving door administration based on whoever is on trumps good side on any given day

I would comment about the Americans but here in the UK we are doing things the proper way. The government have recently announced a Value for Money chief who worked on projects like the London Olympics, Parliament's restoration and HS2...
