we've been dancing around this discussion for years, so let's get it out on the table

yea or nay?

I'm leaning nay. for a title chasing team he's a solid squad option, but imo he'd change the dynamic of our attacking unit. he's like eddie with height and power, in that he doesn't really make anyone around him better, or create his own action. we still wouldnt have a death 11, hed just add more optionality at the same level of what we have (floor vs ceiling debate)

yes he'll score for us for sure, but at what cost?

I want a better striker than him because there are so many top upcoming ones.

But for January can't get anyone better than him

Such sad state of affairs in my opinion if we are going for him. Can't believe there are no other better options

Not sure what I think. Will it hinder us from going for someone like Ferguson in the summer? If so, what are we hoping to gain in the meantime? I don't exactly see us as title challengers, but I guess everything can happen in CL.

toney on one leg is better than eddie. and i DEFINITELY prefer him over that eunuch jesus.

we aren't getting ferguson next summer anyway, so a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

I've heard that Toney has placed a big bet on him joining us in the Jan window, so that's definitely a positive indicator that it's gonna happen

One way to look at this is that, depending on fee and wages, he might well be a more effective signing than Vlahovic.

Seems to be yet another example of Arteta imitating Guardiola.

mohan I sure hope we are taking notes of Boniface, Sesko, Karim Konate and and Simic's son.

But seriously Toney is very good. Just slightly below the top tier

I think he's a very good player, and he absolutely makes the players around him better. He's a terrific link-up player and an excellent modern target man.

Yes that’s a strength of his. He’s also able to have an impact against the bigger teams.

It’s a definite yes from me

He's a good player but I don't think he's a game changer for us. We need to stop signing solid players and get a star. Someone on Odegaard and Sakas level.

There's a real lack of star strikers that are available though. Osimhen is pretty much the only one that comes to mind right now. Or we do what United did and try and get ahead of the curve with someone.

      Qwiss

Depends, if you think Martinelli and Saka are going to be starts you can just get someone who enables them. If you can’t get a star, get someone who fits and makes others better.

As Mirth said it’s unlikely you’re going to get a young Benzema or Kane. You could gamble on someone like Ferguson I suppose, but it’s a gamble.

Concerns around his age (re-sale value?) and the fact he hasn’t played for so long would mean it would take him a while to get up to speed.

However, as others have mentioned, for Jan he won’t be bad at all but his impact may be from March onwards as opposed to someone who can come in and hit the ground running.

Thing is we need a shot in the arm in January. Top four isnt a given based on the quality in the league.

I'd rather we blow our budget on Ferguson, we have other strikers so he could be eased in but the upside and potential there is frightening.

We better move quick. Chelsea will be all over him

I see there's also one where the Napoli TikTok trolled him for missing a penalty.

Napoli should probably sack their social media guru—I assume it's some Gen Z moron who spends too much time on alt-right reddits—and issue an apology to the player.
