Ricky1985 he's really upped his game. The way he uses his strength now makes him a handful for defences. He's a press monster too.

Kel Varnsen I think he lacks confidence and shunts away from the ball now. But as shown in the 2nd half when he had coverage to take players on and run into the box he can be a danger.

Of course all is just hope now as the evidence hasn't been good but there's a player in there

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert I was getting the feeling at one point that cutting in was almost instructional. He was just not giving Dalot much else to think about. Thought White was the one trying to provide a different dimension with him. Ødegaard give and go's were snuffed out.

Ricky1985 He fucked alot of final passes up today but was really a nuisance for the United defence. Didn't let them breathe one bit and won alot of fouls, got their players carded which was important for us.

United last 14 matches, drew 1 lost 13. Thank fuck we didn't let them win here today

Ricky1985 We were not particularly good, but a lot of that was Martinelli and, more so, Saka, not threatening goal as much as we needed them too. Saka looks really, really off it.

Martinelli was probably our best player in the first half and one of our better players overall. Poor corners but every time he got the ball he was positive, running at Bissaka, assisted Odegaard for his goal, won us a load of freekicks and corners.

True. But he's also a bit too one-dimensional imo, and he sees a lot of the ball. He gets a lot of 1-on-1 oppprtunities with the opposing FB, and whether it's Forest, Fulham or United, not an awful lot happens 9 times out of 10.

I agree, he does a lot of good too though. He's just not a killer right now, and doesn't have the sort of close control and cuteness of (an in-form) Saka.

Yeah. I agree and I actually thank that, overall, this is probably the biggest positive takeaway from the game for me. Martinelli is awesome and I love him but physical freak rightbacks (Wan-Bissaka, Walker, Djed Spence) have always eaten his lunch. Today it seems like he finally cracked the code. He was never going to go past Wan-Bissaka by going right at him so he just drew him to the end line and won the corner every time. There was nothing Wan-Bissaka could do about it. It might not be the most exciting thing, but I don't think very many wingers are going to have better attacking displays against Wan-Bissaka than that.

Big Willie yup I thought Marti was our most dangerous outlet upfront. One v one Wan Bissaka is one of the best in world football. But Martinelli didn't go into hiding or choose the easy way out (pass back to defender) often like Saka did. He stayed positive, stayed aggressive, made good things happen. Great game from him.

The thing is, we're made for United with how dominant and aggressive we try to play. They only look good when they counter - they don't have the sort of elite attackers that will thrive against low blocks. It's why I think we sat off their pathetic sideways defensive passing in the first half. When we upped the intensity and played higher up in the second, in many ways we played into their hands, but we had no choice if we wanted to win.

Saka has been poor so far this season. For me it's less a case of "believing his own hype" than it is some hesitation on his part with the new formations and not having White consistently available as an option. We know he has the quality, and his form will no doubt improve. Sooner rather than later too, I think. Break will be good for him.

This is not the first time this has happened, been happening all year. Martinelli should be taking the advantage of this as his side is less occupied.

I'd start with giving Ode having a free and more central role, instead of him being glued to Saka at certain proximity, it is simply not worth it.

Saka was poor today not because he was poor, but United doubled up on him and intentionally played a RB there to stop him from cutting in. It happens. Even Messi got marked out of a game by Ricardo Ferreira ffs

daredevil it was a good contest between the two and I daresay the sort of matchup that Gabriel relishes. Old school ruff and tumble. No one else in our squad would have been able to handle the physicality and I think Gabby did well for being out of the side so long.

He may not be elegant on the ball, but he gives us much needed balance along the back line.

Big ups for holding his nerve and holding the line for the Garbagecho offside decision.

Just coming home from the match. Well the result is big but right now the team is misfiring massively, if we can get out with the results that's great but we have to look at what we are doing.

Our big threat last year was Martinelli and Saka are having tough moments and Saka in particular right now..I don't think it's that surprising because players there age can have the up and down seasons. The problem for us is we rely so much on those players that is they are quite hitting we don't have a whole lot else.

Defensively still look a bit rotten, every time they seemed to actually get forward they looked threatening.

It's good we can go into the international break with a win though. Great moment for rice as well and looks like he's just got the character for the top level for sure.

I’m really buzzing right now. Declan Rice has arrived. Wooo. I thought Arteta held off too long with the subs, but it worked out.

Will be interesting to see how how he uses our front five given the packed schedule after internationals. We have a lot of players available.

Thought Martinelli was easily our best player today- AWB is pathetic offensively but defensively he's the best RB in the league and he was under constant pressure.

White wasn't the best but he's been constantly asked to switch positions which probably doesn't help
